HOMILÍA
Celebramos hoy la Solemnidad del Apóstol Santiago. Al caer en domingo, se considera que este año, 2021, es Año Santo Compostelano. Por razón de la pandemia y, para facilitar la peregrinación ante su tumba en Compostela, también será año santo el 2022. Al hacer memoria de Santiago recordamos: al Apóstol elegido por Jesús a las orillas del lago de Galilea, al amigo predilecto que le acompañó durante tres largos años, al evangelizador que llevó su mensaje más allá de las fronteras de Palestina. La tradición nos habla que sus oyentes, sus primeros discípulos, los primeros cristianos, fueron personas de nuestro país.
Esa tradición también nos habla de cómo su tarea no fue fácil. Y, cómo, en algún momento, necesitó el apoyo y el ánimo de Santa María nuestra Madre, a la que hoy veneramos con ese título entrañable de Virgen del Pilar. Al Apóstol Santiago queremos encomendar nuestra actual Iglesia Española, las distintas diócesis y parroquias, las comunidades que tratan de seguir los pasos de Jesús. Y aunque, en ocasiones, nos venza el desánimo y la desilusión a la hora de vivir la fe y la pertenencia a la Iglesia, sabemos que contamos con la ayuda de Santa María del Pilar. Ella nos llevará hasta su Hijo y alentará nuestra vivencia cristiana. De una manera especial, en estos tiempos de pandemia.
Si hay algo que no podemos pasar por alto, en este día, son las últimas palabras de Jesús en el Evangelio: “El que quiera ser grande entre vosotros, que sea vuestro servidor, y el que quiera ser primero entre vosotros, que sea vuestro esclavo. Igual que el Hijo del hombre no ha venido a ser servido sino a servir y a dar su vida en rescate por muchos» Que Santiago nos ayude a no buscar los primeros puestos o a considerarnos más o mejores que los demás. Que el servicio sea nuestro lema, que el amor a todos sea nuestro signo distintivo.
