HOMILÍA
Acabamos de escuchar las lecturas correspondientes al quinto domingo de Pascua. La primera de ellas, la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Una obra que nos habla de los trabajos misioneros de la naciente Iglesia, ya sin la presencia de Jesús. Las dificultades y los problemas fueron el pan nuestro de cada día. Uno de esos problemas fue el que hacía referencia al distinto origen de los recién convertidos. Unos se habían hecho cristianos procedentes del mundo judío. Otros, anteriormente, eran paganos o eran judíos que vivían en países paganos. Al parecer, existía un servicio de la caridad que dejaba de lado a los pobres de los convertidos del paganismo. Y esta comunidad se quejó a los apóstoles.
Ellos, enfrascados en la predicación dela Buena Noticia del Evangelio, creyeron que no podían descuidar esta misión y decidieron nombrar a siete diáconos que se preocuparan de la administración y del servicio dela caridad. Nos ha dado, incluso, sus nombres. Uno de ellos, Esteban, se dedicó también a la evangelización y fue el primer mártir dentro de la familia cristiana. El diaconado ha sido siempre en la Iglesia un peldaño previo antes de acceder al sacerdocio y hoy es también un ministerio permanente. Hay personas casadas que son ordenadas Diáconos y que se preocupan de las más diversas tareas pastorales al servicio de la comunidad cristiana.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de una carta del Apóstol Pedro. En ella ve a la Iglesia, a la comunidad de los creyentes en Jesús, como un edificio donde cada piedra está en su sitio. Todas son igualmente importantes: las que están en la base y las más altas. Cada uno de nosotros, viene a decir, es una piedra viva de la comunidad eclesial. Todos somos igualmente importantes, tanto si ocupamos un puesto relevante como si no. Cada uno ha de tratar de cumplir bien su misión en el puesto que ocupa para que todo el conjunto esté bien ensamblado. La piedra angular, nos ha dicho también, es Jesús. Hemos de estar unidos a él. Solo así el edificio se mantendrá en pie.
En el Evangelio hemos escuchado a un Jesús que ya comienza a anunciar su despedida y que nos hace una de las mejores definiciones de sí mismo: "Yo soy el camino, la verdad y la vida”. Cuando vengan momentos malos, cuando no sepamos qué rumbo tomar, cuando estemos desconcertados por tantas cosas, tantas opiniones... recordemos esta frase de Jesús: Él es el camino que estamos llamados a recorrer. Él es la verdad que permanece cuanto todo cambia. Él es la vida, la felicidad que anhelamos. Pidámosle que lo sepamos ver así. Confesemos en Él nuestra Fe.
