HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado juntos, por primera vez en mucho tiempo, la Palabra de Dios. Han sido las lecturas propias del domingo sexto de Pascua. En este día se celebra la llamada “Pascua del Enfermo.” Otros años, muchas personas de la tercera edad, eran invitadas a recibir el sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos. Pero hoy, dadas las circunstancias, vamos a limitarnos a orar por todos los enfermos, por todos los que sufren el dolor y la enfermedad, por los que se han visto afectados por el coronavirus, por sus familias, por sus amigos. Hoy también rezamos por los que han sido llamados a la casa del Padre y por sus seres queridos que los han tenido que despedir en privado.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. La Palabra de Dios se iba difundiendo más allá de la ciudad de Jerusalén y del territorio de Judea. El pasaje de hoy nos ha hablado del anuncio del evangelio en tierras de Samaría, de unas personas que se habían hecho cristianas pero que no habían recibido la fuerza del Espíritu Santo. Nosotros también fuimos bautizados y, tiempo más tarde, recibimos el sacramento de la Confirmación, la fuerza de ese Espíritu Santo que nos capacita para vivir nuestra fe con valentía. Pidamos que esa fuerza llegue también, en estos tiempos difíciles, a tantas personas necesitadas de apoyo y de fuerza moral para mirar al futuro con esperanza.
La segunda lectura, del apóstol San Pedro, nos ha insistido en la idea de que los cristianos hemos de saber dar razón de nuestra fe en este mundo nuestro en el que vivimos, en las circunstancias por las que estamos pasando. El apóstol nos recordaba que no siempre lo vamos a tener fácil. Que muchas veces vamos a ser perseguidos a calumniados pero que, como Jesús, hemos de saber afrontar el sufrimiento haciendo el bien que siempre es mejor que sufrir haciendo el mal.
El relato del evangelio de Juan nos ha recordado unas palabras de Jesús que nos hablaban de cómo el amor hacia él nos llevará a cumplir sus mandamientos. Y, porque esto no es fácil, Jesús les prometió a los suyos que, cuando él dejara de estar visiblemente presente, les enviaría al Espíritu Santo que les fortalecería, que les animaría, que les recordaría todo lo que les había enseñado y su sentido y su significado.
