HOMILÍA
Unidos a la solemnidad del Apóstol Santiago, cuya fiesta celebrábamos ayer, hoy se nos invita a celebra el domingo, el día del Señor. Las palabras de Jesús que nos han sido proclamadas, las escuchó nuestro apóstol Santiago en vivo y en directo. A él le pedimos que nos ayude a meditarlas y reflexionarlas, a comprenderlas, a saber aplicarlas a nuestra vida. La palabra de Dios, escuchábamos estos domingos pasados, es viva y eficaz y penetra hasta lo íntimo de nuestro corazón. No la dejemos pasar sin pena ni gloria. Tiene mucho que decirnos a todos y a cada uno de nosotros.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del primer libro de los Reyes. El rey Salomón recibe una oferta de parte de Dios: “Pídeme lo que quieras que te dé.” Y él pudo aprovecharse y pedir cosas para sí, riquezas y honores o una vida larga y feliz para sí y para los suyos. Sin embargo, dejando a un lado sus apetencias personales, pensó en el bien de su pueblo y pidió: “Concede, pues, a tu siervo, un corazón atento para juzgar a tu pueblo y discernir entre el bien y el mal.” Es decir, Salomón pidió un corazón sabio para poder gobernar. Al Señor le agradó la petición del rey y le concedió más allá de lo solicitado. ¡Ojalá que nuestra oración no sea egoísta y busque el bien de aquellos que están a nuestro lado: familiares, vecinos, amigos!
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Roma, nos ha recordado que: “a los que aman a Dios, todo le sirve para el bien”. Es cierto que, a veces, pueden venirnos enfermedades, dolores, contratiempos de toda clase. Pero, si el amor de Dios habita en nuestros corazones, lo bueno y lo malo que nos pueda venir tendrá un sentido y será provechoso para nosotros. Pidamos al Señor que, las pruebas de la vida, no nos lleguen a quitar ni la fe ni la confianza en el Señor.
El relato del Evangelio de San Mateo nos ha hablado de la fe como un tesoro o una perla de gran valor por la cual merece la pena darlo todo. Pidamos ver así la fe en Jesús. Somos y nos decimos cristianos, participamos en la eucaristía y en el resto de los sacramentos pero, quizás, no valoramos, en su justa medida, lo que tenemos. Sintámonos orgullosos de la Fe que anima nuestra vida. Fijémonos en la testimonio de Santiago y de tantos mártires que, a lo largo de la historia de la Iglesia, prefirieron morir antes que renegar de la amistad con Jesús.
