HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas propias del tercer domingo de Adviento. Un domingo que recibe el nombre de “Gaudete”, palabra latina que se puede traducir por “Alegraos” o “Regocijaos” y es que, en este día, además de seguir insistiendo en temas como la conversión, la preparación de los caminos del Señor, la espera y la esperanza, hacemos también referencia a la alegría que ha de inundar el corazón de todo creyente ante la proximidad de la venida de Jesús.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Sofonías. Abundan palabras y expresiones que indican alegría, ánimo, esperanza, presencia viva de Dios en medio de su pueblo. Un Dios que comparte el gozo de la gente que le necesita y le busca. ¡Ojala que también nosotros vivamos estos días previos a la Navidad con ánimo, con esperanza, con alegría; y que, todo ello, lo compartamos con los que, por los motivos que sean, están desanimados, faltos de ilusión o tristes!
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Filipenses, también nos ha insistido en el tema de la alegría y nos ha dado una razón de peso: “Porque el Señor está cerca”. Nos ha pedido que dejemos atrás las preocupaciones que nos impiden ser felices y que, con una inmensa confianza, elevemos hacia Dios nuestras peticiones, seguros de ser escuchados. Él nos dará, decía también, el inmenso regalo de la paz.
El evangelio de Lucas nos ha vuelto a presentar la figura incomparable de Juan el Bautista que prepara los caminos del Señor indicando a cada cual qué actitudes y comportamientos debía cambiar. Sería bueno que nosotros pudiéramos hoy acercarnos a Juan para hacerle la misma pregunta que tantos le hacían “¿Qué debemos hacer para recibir a Jesús?” Seguro que, si miramos dentro de nosotros mismos, encontraremos la respuesta que el Señor espera de nosotros.
