Tras la parábola del administrador astuto, que consigue ganarse amigos a costa de engañar a su amo, Jesús quiere fijar la atención de sus discípulos en los pequeños detalles. Llama la atención que aquél que ha realizado grandes signos, habiendo hablado a multitudes, pueda decir ahora que las pequeñas cosas son importantes.
A veces las miradas dicen más que grandes discursos, y estoy plenamente convencido que Jesús miraba de un modo especial. Podemos imaginar la sonrisa tierna cuando acariciaba un niño, la mirada compasiva al tocar a los enfermos, el dolor de su corazón al descubrir la infidelidad de su pueblo, la palabra y gesto oportunos hacia sus discípulos… Son pequeños gestos que no pasan desapercibidos.
El que es honrado en lo poco, también lo será en lo importante. Aunque parezca nimiedad, cada gesto de nuestra vida cotidiana cuenta. Son las pequeñas cosas y los pequeños detalles lo que hacen que nuestra vida sea grande. Y no podemos esperar grandes acciones para ser santos o para ser mejores discípulos de Jesús. Al contrario: son esos detalles lo que hacen del cristiano una persona coherente.
Ciertamente le damos importancia al dinero a nivel social; lo necesitamos para vivir, para crear un ambiente de bienestar. Pero tal vez consideramos que nuestra economía se registra en un libro aparte de nuestra vida y de nuestro ser cristiano. ¿Por qué? Pues tal vez porque hacemos en nuestra vida compartimentos estancos que no tienen nada que ver unos con los otros.
Servir al dinero nos impide servir a Dios. Parece una nimiedad, parece insignificante, pero no lo es; también en esos pequeños detalles económicos nos jugamos nuestra coherencia de vida cristiana. Y cuando vemos que empleamos en dinero en cosas que no nos dan la felicidad, o acumulamos tesoros cuando aún hay gente que muere de hambre… el detalle del dinero se convierte en el dios al que servimos.
Jesús llama hoy la atención sobre esos pequeños detalles; el día a día es lo que construye nuestra propia vida; por eso hemos de caer en la cuenta de si somos esos astutos administradores de los que habla el evangelio, o somos demasiado ingenuos como para pensar que no le damos importancia a nuestro dinero y a compartirlo con los demás.
