La fama de Jesús iba extendiéndose por todas las regiones; hasta los jefes de las sinagogas, como era el caso de Jairo, habían escuchado del nuevo Maestro; mucha gente lo apretujaba porque querían llenarse del mensaje que proclamaba. Y en estas líneas evangélicas encontramos dos hechos excepcionales que muestran la fe de personas muy diferentes.
Jairo, por una parte, quizá como último recurso y sabiendo que Jesús había realizado ya grandes curaciones, se dirigió a Él para implorarle por su hija; con la esperanza de que su hija sería curada de la enfermedad, se lleva del gentío al Maestro. Su insistencia mostraba la respuesta de un creyente que escucha la voz de Dios.
La mujer que, con miedo a ser rechazada, se acerca a Jesús para tocarle solo el manto, es el otro ejemplo de fe y confianza que descubrimos. Había gastado toda su fortuna en médicos y sólo había hecho empeorar; pero ahora tenía cerca de sí a Jesús; podía tocarlo, podía dirigirse a Él, podía llamarle la atención… Pero sólo quiso tocarle el manto, pensando que así sanaría. Y así sucedió.
Ninguno de los dos exige nada, solo ruegan la intervención de Cristo; ninguno ofrece nada, solo se ponen en sus manos. Eso es fe, confiar plenamente en aquél con el que uno se encuentra. Confiar en su palabra, en lo que otros habían hablado de Él y esperar que, con sólo rozar su manto, podamos convertirnos.
La mujer quedó sana al instante con la fuerza que salió de Jesús. Jairo parece que tuvo peor suerte en un primer momento, puesto que cuando hablaba con la mujer sanada vinieron a decirle que su hija había fallecido.
A ambos les remarca Jesús la importancia de la fe: tu fe te ha salvado y basta con que tengas fe. Sólo era necesario que confiaran en él; así lo hizo la mujer y así lo esperó también Jairo cuando se dirigió a su casa para ver qué podía hacer el Maestro. En efecto, su hija volvió a la vida, tal y como lo había dicho Jesús.
La vida de aquellas personas cambió; y es que el encuentro con Jesús transforma la forma de ver el mundo, la vida y las personas que nos rodean; un ejemplo de intercesión por los demás el de Jairo y un ejemplo de confianza plena y humilde el dela mujer. Sóloun granito de la fe de aquellas personas bastaría para que muchos de nosotros cambiásemos y nos encontráramos definitivamente con el Mesías. Fe es igual a encuentro personal con Cristo, y sin este encuentro no puede existir el milagro de una nueva vida.
