Rodeado de aquellos que vinieron a escuchar, Jesús les habla sobre el Reino de Dios pues, para eso había venido al mundo. Sus discursos, sus parábolas, sus milagros, no eran más que mostrar más claramente en qué consiste el Reino que Dios tiene preparado para aquellos que le aman y siguen sus mandatos.
Cansados y agotados por el camino, el viaje y la jornada, los discípulos querían despedir a todos aquellos que habían saboreado el pan de la Palabra. Sin embargo el corazón de Jesús se conmueve, incluso al poner a prueba a sus propios discípulos pidiéndoles que fueran ellos los que les dieran de comer. Para un número tan significativo de gente, aquellos pocos panes y peces quedaban ridículos; pero por su palabra ahora repartieron lo que tenían.
Pronunciando de nuevo una acción de gracias y elevando sus ojos al Padre, por quien había venido al mundo, aquellos pocos panes fueron más que suficientes para saciar a la multitud. Un pan que nos anticipaba el banquete eterno de la Eucaristía y la donación total de Cristo a la humanidad.
Hoy la Iglesia celebra la solemnidad del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo; en la fiesta del Corpus Christi la Iglesia revive el misterio del Jueves santo a la luz de la Resurrección. Nos sentamos de nuevo a la mesa de la Palabra de Jesús, el Pan de la Vida, escuchamos su mensaje de liberación que es la venida del Reino de Dios y nos alimentamos de su mismo Cuerpo y Sangre. ¡Qué misterio tan glorioso y qué motivo tan grandioso para darle gracias a Dios!
La finalidad de esta comunión, de este alimentarnos del mismo Jesús, de este comer, es la de asemejar nuestra vida a la suya, pareciéndonos cada día un poco más a nuestro único Maestro. Cada vez que nos alimentamos de su Cuerpo y Sangre es Él mismo quien habita dentro de nosotros y nos da la fortaleza necesaria para ser sus testigos.
La Eucaristía es el sacramento central de nuestra fe, aquél hacia el que confluye toda la vida cristiana, puesto que no somos nada alejados de su fortaleza. Es Cristo mismo quien se convierte en alimento eterno para nosotros, que se entrega y se dona gratuitamente para que conozcamos la inmensidad que se nos ha preparado en el Reino de Dios.
En esta solemnidad, nuestras miradas se alzan agradecidas a Dios que ha querido quedarse para siempre entre nosotros en un poco de pan y vino; alimentémonos y cojamos las fuerzas suficientes para que su Palabra cale en nosotros y su Espíritu mueva nuestros corazones.
