Todos los años, al terminar el Año Litúrgico, leemos este Discurso Escatológico. Un anuncio del Señor. La Historia termina, somos gente de paso y hemos de estar con los ojos bien abiertos para prepararnos al encuentro definitivo con Dios. Todo dicho en un lenguaje apocalíptico, muy de aquella hora, pero que deja muy claras las verdades.
En el Evangelio, a propósito de la admiración que causaba a los discípulos la magnificencia del Templo de Jerusalén, Jesús profetiza su ruina, como un signo de que termina una Etapa de la Historia salvífica y comienza la Era de Jesús.
En el pasaje completo, del que hoy leemos una parte, Jesús resalta tres cosas:
– Destrucción de Jerusalén, como anticipo del fin del mundo. Tal vez, el propio Lucas fue testigo de cómo las tropas de Tito arruinaron la Ciudad, en el año 70.
– Comienza el tiempo de la Iglesia. Anuncia persecuciones, cárceles, falsos Mesías, providencia especial de Dios con los creyentes.
Anuncio para el futuro de la vuelta del Mesías. "Entonces verán al Hijo del Hombre venir en una nube con gran poder y majestad". Algunos creían que el final estaba cercano, entre ellos los de Tesalónica de la Epístola de hoy.
"El final no vendrá enseguida..."
Estas palabras de Jesús confirman lo que nosotros vivimos y lo decimos en la Misa. "¡Ven, Señor Jesús!" El Señor volverá. Y mientras llega esa hora, de la que no sabemos, ni el cómo, ni el cuándo, vivimos preparándonos, en el tiempo de Iglesia.
Cuando Jesús daba sus consignas en los encuentros de la Pascua, les dijo a sus Apóstoles: "Como el Padre me envió, así os envío yo. Recibid el espíritu Santo..."
La Iglesia, que somos todos los que formamos la familia de Jesús, se siente enviada y asistida por el Espíritu Santo. Tres cosas guarda la Iglesia, que son el tesoro de Jesús, y que tiene que comunicarlo a todos, como Buena Noticia.
La Palabra. La Iglesia vive oyendo y comunicando esta Palabra. “Id al mundo entero..."
Los Sacramentos, que son los cauces de la presencia viva de Jesús.
El testimonio del amor. Un cristiano puede fallar en alguna de estas cosas, porque es pecador. Pero si las olvidara, o las rebajara, habría aguado el vino del Evangelio.
¡Que Santa María, la Madre de la Iglesia, nos ayude!
