QUINTO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA. CICLO B
Jesús ha entrado en Jerusalén, la ciudad santa; le han recibido con hojas de palmera y a su paso todos habían proclamado “hosanna, bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor”; le reconocían como el Rey de Israel, después de todas sus palabras, y de la fama que le precedía; sus signos, sus milagros avalaban que era el Mesías esperado. Y en Jerusalén se sitúa la escena del evangelio de este domingo.
Se acercaba la fiesta de Pascua, y como era costumbre toda la ciudad estaba preparando dicho acontecimiento; sin embargo los griegos que en primer lugar se acercan a Jesús parece que no cuadran allí, no son judíos, no celebran la Pascua, sin embargo quieren conocer al Mesías; por intercesión de Felipe y Andrés, los que más tarde abrirían también el cristianismo a los paganos, los presentan a Jesús y Él les dirige unas premonitorias palabras.
El evangelio y la buena noticia se abren universalmente al pueblo griego; no es casual que aquellos hombres procedentes de otro mundo distinto al judío fueran presentados a Jesús. La salvación de Dios se ofrece a todos los hombres sin distinción, no sólo al pueblo escogido de Israel, sino a todos aquellos que de verdad siguen y descubren a la Luz del mundo.
Si el grano de trigo no muere no da fruto. Jesús era consciente de que su vida terrena en este mundo estaba a punto de acabar. Había venido a reconciliar a los hombres con Dios y a hacer vida las promesas de su Padre. Pero antes había de padecer, y por eso se siente profundamente abatido. Anticipando el sufrimiento de la oración del monte de los olivos, Jesús se pregunta si podría evitarse ese sufrimiento, pero no era posible, su hora había llegado y el nombre de su Padre sería glorificado a través de Él.
Todo queda ratificado por la voz del Padre, que de nuevo se hace escuchar en gloriosa manifestación; Jesús hablaba de su muerte, sabía lo que Jerusalén le tenía preparado después de haberle recibido entre palmas y proclamado como Rey del universo. Pero no se echa atrás, para esto había venido al mundo, para morir en la tierra como grano de trigo y dar fruto de vida eterna.
A las puertas de la Semana de Pasión y Gloria, nuestras miradas se centran en un Jesús que anuncia lo que le va a suceder; su muerte y resurrección se convierten en nosotros en el camino de vuelta hacia Dios.
