Los reyes que mueren por los demás
Ser rey es cosa fácil. Lo difícil es ejercer el Reinado de verdad. Y llegar al reinado de Jesús. Reinar desde arriba manejando a los demás, lo hace cualquiera. Pero reinar rebajándose y dando su vida por los demás, morir para que otros vivan, ya es otro cantar.
Subir a la Cruz para acabar con todas las cruces, ese es el verdadero reinado del amor. Y eso es lo que hizo Jesús. Cargar con su Cruz, para que todos los hombros quedasen sin cruz. La Cruz de Jesús amontonó todas las cruces que pesaban sobre los hombros de los hombres y mujeres del mundo.
No soy amigos de esos reyes que viven en Palacios y se llevan la gran vida a cuenta del resto de ciudadanos. Pero me encanta ese Rey que se llama Jesús que, no tiene palacio, ni tiene siquiera una casa propia, pero sí dispone de una Cruz para morir colgado y de esa manera hacer que todas las cruces de los hombres sean retiradas de circulación.
¿Por qué será que todos ansiamos subir, alcanzar altos puestos y mandar? ¿Será cierto eso de que los que quieren estar arriba es precisamente para servir a los de abajo?
Mi pregunta es: ¿Y cuántos de los que ahora están en la cima han hecho más libres a los de abajo? ¿Y cuántos que han luchado por subir hasta arriba, ahora desde las alturas han hecho más felices a los de abajo? Nunca me han gustado esos que prometen mucho cuando están en el llano y cuando están en la cumbre, se olvidan de cómo nos llamamos.
Por eso, aunque no me gustan mucho los Reyes, me gusta la fiesta de Jesucristo Rey del Universo, porque al menos Él abrazó su cruz y todas las cruces de tantos hombros heridos se han caído y el amor las ha amontonado. ¿Será para quemarlas o encender el fuego del amor con su leña?
Fíjate en esa montaña de cruces, las hay de todos los estilos y tamaños, y trata de ver si encuentras la tuya. Porque es posible que, entre todas ellas, haya una que lleva tu nombre. Precisamente la tuya. La que a ti tanto te dolía y tanto te pesaba.
¿Hay algo más maravilloso que aliviar el dolor de los demás? ¿Hay algo más bello y hermoso que ver al hombre enfermo que vuelve a sonreír? ¿Hay algo más bello que ver que alguien comparte nuestras propias cruces para que nosotros nos sintamos más libres y esperanzados? ¿Hay algo más bello y hermoso que ver a la gente feliz, aunque su felicidad tenga el precio de la vida de alguien que tuvo que morir en la cruz, insultado por todos?
Me gustan los reyes que son despreciados para que nosotros seamos reconocidos en nuestra dignidad humana. Me gustan los reyes a los que se les pide que bajen de su cruz, y prefieren descolgar a los demás aunque ellos sigan clavados de ella. Me gustan los reyes a los que se les pide que se salven y prefieren salvar a los demás.
No me gustan los de arriba que lo prometen todo y luego no dan nada. No me gustan los que nos utilizan para ellos crecer. No me gustan los que viven felices en sus sillones o sus despachos y a los que hay que pedirles permiso para hablar con ellos. Prefiero a esos que siempre están dispuestos a escuchar nuestros gritos de dolor y ahí mismo nos regalan la esperanza. ¿Alguien quiere ser rey así?
