“Aquellos días” son nuestros días. Puede parecer apocalíptico y, ciertamente lo es, pero apocalíptico en su sentido etimológico: revelador. Descubrir que nuestros días son los últimos, ver cómo las ramas de la higuera “se ponen tiernas y brotan las yemas”, es muy revelador. En todo caso, si nuestros días son los últimos es porque no tenemos más. Si me pusiera en plan marxista, afirmaría lo contrario. Es decir, que no podemos leer la historia en clave personal, sino en clave de especie y que la especie humana sigue avanzando, a la par que se pierden las historias personales. Que pervivimos en el pueblo del que un día formamos parte. Pero esto es falso: lo que queda es mi historia personal, mi historia de hijo de Dios y mi historia como hermano de los hombres.
Pensar que mis acciones y mis omisiones quedan ha de conducirme a dos actitudes: responsabilidad y confianza. Mi responsabilidad personal y mi confianza en Dios. No al revés, porque algunos piensan y obran como si, ante lo malo, la responsabilidad fuera exclusivamente de Dios y, ante lo bueno, la responsabilidad fuera propia, llevándoles a confiar ciegamente en las propias capacidades. No existe un progreso infinito. Es más, la noción de progreso es la idea de esperanza sometida a la secularización. Y el cristiano es, antes que otras muchas cosas, persona de esperanza. Esperanza operante, que pone en acción el amor a Dios y al prójimo.
No tenemos mucho tiempo, pero el fin de nuestra vida y de nuestra humanidad es precioso. No es que lleguemos a un punto final, a un término, sino que alcanzamos nuestro fin, aquello para lo que hemos sido creados por Dios: salvación, felicidad y alegría sin término, por eternidad de eternidades. “Entonces se salvará tu pueblo”, como escuchamos en la lectura del libro de Daniel.
“Está a la puerta” de tu historia personal, de tu vida. Es momento de abrir. Como María abrió su corazón, ofreciéndose como esclava del Señor y como tierra buena para que la semilla de Dios diese la mejor cosecha.
