HOMILÍA
La celebración de la Solemnidad de Cristo, Rey del Universo, cierra el Año Litúrgico en el que se ha meditado sobre todo el misterio de su vida, su predicación y el anuncio del Reino de Dios. La fiesta de Cristo Rey fue instaurada por el Papa Pío XI el 11 de diciembre de 1925. El Papa quiso motivar a los católicos a reconocer en público que la Iglesia está bajo el manto protector de Cristo Rey. El próximo domingo comenzaremos el tiempo del Adviento que nos preparará para celebrar la Navidad de la mano de la Virgen Inmaculada.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del segundo libro de Samuel y nos ha contado la elección de David como Rey de Israel. Un hecho que nos recuerda la realeza de Jesús. Una realeza, eso sí, especial, porque él no es un rey al estilo humano con su corte, su ejército y el esplendor que rodea a los reyes humanos. Jesús es un rey que ha venido a instaurar su reino de justicia, de amor y de paz. Su trono es la cruz, su corona es de espinas, su misión es el servicio y el dar la vida por todos.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Colosas, nos ha hablado de la grandeza y de la misión de Cristo: “Él es anterior a todo, y todo se mantiene en él. Él es también la cabeza del cuerpo: de la Iglesia. Él es el principio, el primogénito de entre los muertos, y así es el primero en todo. Y por él quiso reconciliar todas las cosas, las del cielo y las de la tierra, haciendo la paz por la sangre de su Cruz”. Que todo esto quede grabado, con fuerza, en nuestro corazón.
El relato del evangelio de San Lucas nos ha mostrado a un Jesús clavado en la Cruz bajo un letrero en el que se podía leer: “Este es el rey de los judíos.” Escuchará, además, esta frase de uno de los crucificados a su lado. “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando llegues a tu reino” ¡Qué hermosa la respuesta que recibió! “Hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.”
