COMENZAR EL AÑO DE LA MANO DE LA VIRGEN MARÍA
El Señor nos concede la gracia de comenzar el nuevo año invocando a la Virgen María como Madre de Dios.
La maternidad de María no es una función pasiva. San Lucas destaca la actitud de fe de María, su obediencia, su total apertura y disponibilidad, su atenta escucha y su continua interiorización de la palabra de Dios. Son actitudes activas, propias de alguien con capacidad de respuesta, con admirable adhesión al proyecto de Dios, con solicitud amorosa.
No es lo mismo comenzar el año con la fatiga acumulada que hacerlo desde el respeto y la devoción que debemos a la Virgen María. El Concilio Vaticano II afirma: “Desde los tiempos más antiguos, la Bienaventurada Virgen es honrada con el título de Madre de Dios, a cuyo amparo los fieles acuden con sus súplicas en todos sus peligros y necesidades” (LG 66).
La lectura del texto del libro de los Números nos sitúa desde el inicio en contexto de bendición: “El Señor te bendiga y te proteja, ilumine su rostro sobre ti y te conceda su favor. El Señor te muestre su rostro y te conceda la paz” (Num 6,24–26).
En esta Jornada Mundial de la Paz pedimos a la Virgen que interceda al Señor para que nos llene con su paz: paz en los corazones, entre las personas, en las familias, en la sociedad, entre las naciones y en el mundo en su totalidad.
La paz comienza cuando sabemos mirar con respeto a los demás, cuando reconocemos en cada persona el rostro de un hermano, independientemente del color de su piel, de su origen, su lengua y su cultura. Pero, en realidad, solamente cuando Dios habita en nuestro corazón, estamos en condiciones de ver en el rostro del otro no a un rival, sino a un hermano de la misma familia de la humanidad.
A propósito de la experiencia del Covid–19, el Papa Francisco afirma en su Mensaje para la 56ª Jornada Mundial de la Paz: “¿Qué se nos pide, entonces, que hagamos? En primer lugar, dejarnos cambiar el corazón por la emergencia que hemos vivido, es decir, permitir que Dios transforme nuestros criterios habituales de interpretación del mundo y de la realidad a través de este momento histórico. Ya no podemos pensar sólo en preservar el espacio de nuestros intereses personales o nacionales, sino que debemos concebirnos a la luz del bien común, con un sentido comunitario, es decir, como un "nosotros" abierto a la fraternidad universal” (nº 5).
