HOMILÍA
Las conocidas palabras del Evangelista san Lucas han resonado, una vez más, en nuestras vidas y en nuestros corazones: Dios se hace hombre, nace en un humilde portal de los alrededores de Belén. Allí están María y José. Quizás algunos animales. Pronto el cielo se poblará de ángeles, de cantos, de música y pastores de los alrededores se acercarán para echar una mano, para admirarse del misterio que rodea siempre el nacimiento de un niño. Le llevaran regalos pero, más importante todavía, terminarán dejando allí sus corazones y se volverán con un interrogante: ¿Quién es este niño? ¿Qué será de Él?
Hoy nosotros, dos mil años después, revivimos el misterio del nacimiento del Hijo de Dios. Escuchamos, emocionados, el relato y nos acercamos a ese niño. Queremos, como los pastores, llevarle regalos. Queremos hacer de nuestros corazones un portal. Queremos que ese niño nazca en nuestras vidas, en nuestras personas. Queremos que nos llene de ternura, de amor, de poesía, de todo lo bueno que anhelamos y buscamos. Queremos que sea Navidad todo el año. Que ese Jesús, nacido en Belén, nos impulse a vivir las virtudes, las actitudes y los comportamientos propios de toda navidad.
Nos acercamos al Niño de Belén y nos acercamos a tantos niños que nacen en la pobreza, en la miseria en tantos países del tercer mundo. ¿De qué nos serviría llenar nuestro corazón de ternura al contemplar el misterio del nacimiento de Jesús, si permaneciésemos indiferentes a la suerte de tantos niños que en Siria, en muchos países de África, de América o de Asia mueren por la falta de lo más imprescindible? Nosotros debemos convertirnos en esos pastores que se acercan a quienes viven en la pobreza y les llevan lo que tienen y pueden. Una religión que nos llevara a adorar al Niño de Belén pero que nos adormeciera respecto a la suerte de tantos niños de nuestro mundo, estaría equivocada. Visitemos el portal y comprometámonos ayudar a los que nacen, viven y, muchas veces mueren, en el mayor de los desamparos.
Visitemos al Jesús que nace en Belén, sí. Pero no olvidemos tampoco a quienes, incluso entre nosotros, están experimentando las consecuencias de una crisis económica que les está dejando a la intemperie. Colaboremos con Cáritas para aliviar la suerte de tantos. Hace poco se hizo una Colecta en este sentido pero, en estos momentos difíciles por los que pasamos, todo es poco. Demos nuestro dinero; si podemos, ofrezcamos un puesto de trabajo. Demos pero, sobre todo, démonos a nosotros mismos. Pensemos qué podemos hacer. Abramos los ojos a esa realidad, de pobreza y de incertidumbre ante el futuro, que se están dando, ya aquí, en nuestro pueblo y hagamos aquello que querríamos que otros hicieran por nosotros. Jesús nace para todos. No lo olvidemos
