HOMILÍA
Celebra hoy la Iglesia la fiesta del Bautismo de Jesús. Atrás han quedado las grandes celebraciones que rodearon su nacimiento. En esta fecha lo contemplamos ya adulto, dispuesto a emprender la aventura de su vida pública. Muy poco sabemos de esos años de vida oculta en Nazaret, trabajando mano a mano con José, siendo un vecino más, un amigo de sus amigos. En algún momento debió sentir la llamada a ponerse en camino, a dejar su trabajo. Su primer destino fue encontrarse con su primo Juan el Bautista a las orillas del Rio Jordán. Allí pidió ser bautizado, escuchó la voz del Padre que lo proclamaba su Hijo amado y sintió la presencia del Espíritu que bajaba sobre él. Una voz rompió la solemnidad del momento: “Este es mi Hijo amado en quien me complazco.”
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías que nos hablaba de un misterioso personaje llamado “Siervo de Yavé”. Lo que el profeta dice de él se puede atribuir a la persona, a la misión y a la tarea que va a desarrollar el propio Jesús: “No gritará, no clamará, no voceará por las calles. Manifestará la justicia con verdad. Abrirá los ojos de los ciegos.” Caminará por los pueblos de Palestina, siendo el signo visible de la presencia amorosa del Padre Dios en medio de la gente.
La segunda lectura nos ha recordado un discurso de Pedro en el que hace referencia precisamente al Bautismo de Jesús. Dice de Él una frase que para nosotros quisiéramos: “Pasó por la vida haciendo el bien y curando a los oprimidos por el mal porque Dios estaba con Él.” Pasar por la vida haciendo el bien, curando, aliviando el sufrimiento, escuchado al que tiene una pena que compartir, es la mejor forma de vivir. Al comienzo de este año, hagamos este firme propósito: “Hacer el bien a todos, rezar por todos, amar a todos, perdonar a todos” y, como no es fácil esta tarea, pidámosela al Padre de los cielos cada día
El Bautismo de Jesús nos recuerda nuestro propio Bautismo. Éramos muy pequeños, es verdad, cuando fuimos bautizados. Pero hoy podemos reafirmar lo que aquel hecho supuso para nosotros, podemos renovar los compromisos bautismales que por nosotros hicieron nuestros padres y padrinos. Podemos sentir el gozo de ser cristianos y disponernos a cumplir lo que implica ser discípulos de quien “no vino a ser servido sino a servir y a dar su vida por todos”. Confesemos nuestra fe.
