BAUTISMO DE JESÚS
La Navidad es una fiesta de cumplimiento: el tantas veces deseado e implorado, el tantas veces anunciado y prometido ha nacido de la Virgen en Belén de Judá. Ya ha sido adorado por pastores y por reyes, ya ha sido circuncidado y tiene el nombre que el ángel dispuso, ya ha sufrido la primera persecución y, de vuelta se establece con María y José en Nazaret, para explicarnos el evangelio del silencio, del trabajo y de la familia. Hoy se presenta en el Jordán ante el Bautista. Hoy el Padre lo muestra como Hijo. Hoy el Espíritu nos enseña que es el Espíritu de Jesús y del Padre. Estamos ante su bautismo.
Su bautismo y nuestro bautismo. El suyo es declarativo: el Padre nos invita a creer y escuchar a su único hijo. El nuestro es salvador: el Padre nos hace hijos adoptivos y nos da la fe con la que podemos creer, la esperanza con la que podemos esperar y la caridad con la que podemos amar. En uno y otro caso, el bautismo es misión: ¡¡¡Buena noticia!!! El Señor viene, ya está aquí; el rey poderoso y pacífico que trae el perdón y la liberación; el pastor eterno a los más pequeños y a los más débiles, que conduce a su pueblo por caminos seguros. La era de gracia y consuelo anunciada por Isaías ya ha comenzado y, lo que es más increíble, dura para siempre. Pero el bautismo es una puerta que hay que cruzar y cruzarla cuesta. El evangelista san Lucas sitúa después del Bautismo del Señor las tentaciones en el desierto. Nuestra vida de bautizados también conlleva la tentación, eso sí con la gracia de Dios: gracia que es vivir en Dios y Dios viviendo en nosotros. Gracia que no es una mera compañía, gracia que supera con creces la mejor de las amistades. Gracia que es Dios viviendo mi misma suerte y, en él, mi suerte está echada: es presencia y herencia, hijo suyo y heredero suyo.
Bautismo de misericordia. Que Jesús se bautice es signo de misericordia: en ese instante actualiza la Encarnación, dando su corazón a nosotros pobres necesitados de bautismo y de perdón. El bautismo mismo es signo de misericordia: el corazón de Dios que se nos da en el bautismo no es una cosa, se nos da vida a los que sin Dios no podríamos vivir. María, puerta de la misericordia, enséñanos a vivir el bautismo.
