DOMINGO XXVIII TIEMPO ORDINARIO
(Mt 22,1-14) Jesús vino a anunciar que el Reino de Dios ya está entre nosotros, que es como esa pequeña semilla enterrada con esmero que espera germinar; en esta ocasión compara su Reino a un banquete de bodas; siempre es motivo de alegría acudir a un evento como éste (aunque en los tiempos que corren, debido al ingente y desproporcionado gasto que conllevan, más que una alegría resulta una carga).
Se trata de una boda real; el gran rey prepara la boda de su hijo y ultima todos los detalles; las invitaciones han llegado a los comensales y, a modo de recordatorio, se envían mensajeros para confirmar asistencias. Pero los convidados no hacen caso. Ignoran la invitación de su Rey; rechazan a los mensajeros hasta tal punto de producirles la muerte.
Una boda llena de manjares exquisitos disfrutando de la alegría real y de la compañía de los hermanos; así podría ser el Reino de Dios y así lo asemeja Jesús.
Desde el comienzo del mundo ha sido preparada; y se han enviado esos criados o mensajeros, o profetas, que recordaban una y otra vez que todo está preparado, que acudamos al banquete, que se han matado terneros y reses cebadas.
Nuestro sitio está preparado. Pero lo más triste de todo es que el amor con el que ha sido preparado este Reino o banquete, ha sido rechazado en multitud de ocasiones.
Desoídas las voces de profetas, jueces, reyes, precursor incluído, y hasta del mismo Hijo, los convidados no se merecieron entrar en el palacio real. Por eso la invitación se hizo extensible a todos: malos y buenos; sin excluir a nadie; ni raza, ni condición, ni sexo, ni ocupación social o cuenta bancaria son tenidos en cuenta para ofrecer la invitación a la boda.
Ellos sí aceptaron acercarse y entrar al banquete. Vestidos de gala, excepto aquél que no estaba preparado para la ocasión y que fue arrojado fuera, los convidados disfrutan de la presencia del Rey y de su hijo, porque entonces fue preparado para ellos el festín.
¿Quién de nosotros se compara a los convidados en primer lugar al banquete? Seguramente que pocos, porque su suerte fue la merecida; preferimos colocarnos en esos últimos puestos, al borde del camino, entre los malos y buenos, entre la gente común que no quiere sobresalir de nadie. Pero situarnos entre los segundos convidados implica una gran dosis de humildad y aceptar con alegría su invitación, y estar preparados. Y dejar que las prostitutas y publicanos se nos adelanten, porque precisamente para los que se consideran pecadores es este mensaje.
