¿Domingo XXIV. Tiempo Ordinario. Ciclo B.
Si tuviésemos en un pequeño libro exclusivamente el evangelio de Marcos, y nos fuéramos a la mitad del texto, nos encontraríamos con esta escena evangélica que hoy leemos. Camino de Cesarea de Felipe y tras realizar grandes signos y prodigios en medio del pueblo, Jesús quiere hacer un alto y plantearle a sus discípulos, a sus seguidores una cuestión singular: ¿quién dice la gente que soy yo?
No era simple curiosidad lo que movió al Maestro a realizar esa pregunta; sino el deseo de que aquellos que habían sido testigos de los milagros, conocieran en profundidad su misión. Juan Bautista, Elías, un profeta… diversidad de respuestas a la cuestión de Cristo. Comparado con grandes personajes que influyeron notablemente en la religión judía, que habían transmitido esperanza y habían proclamado la llegada del Mesías.
Más allá de la pregunta impersonal sobre quién era, Jesús pretende conocer lo que ellos pensaban: ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y Pedro, ¡cómo no!, salta airoso y responde señalándole como el Mesías. Era evidente que habían captado la profundidad del mensaje de su Maestro y de los signos que había realizado. Pero al mismo tiempo era acuciante continuar la enseñanza: el hijo del hombre padecerá mucho y será ejecutado y resucitará al tercer día. Se lo explicaba todo con claridad, no les ocultaba lo que les esperaba en Jerusalén.
Pero Pedro no quería o no estaba de acuerdo con lo que su Señor les explicaba, por eso le increpa, como apartando de su mente esos malos presentimientos. No era ningún sueño lo que les había dicho, sino su futuro, la necesidad de su muerte y resurrección. Por eso, dirigiéndose a Pedro, le ordena que vaya detrás de Él, que se aparte, que siga sus huellas, que entienda la necesidad de su camino.
El que quiera seguir tras Él, que coja su cruz; no se abrían a sus pasos ningún camino de rosas, sino de espinas; y era preciso caminar por esas sendas para que el mundo crea en el amor de Dios. Aquél que estuviera dispuesto a perder su vida por el Evangelio, por la Buena noticia, que era el mismo Cristo, ganaría la eternidad.
La pregunta que dirigió Jesús camino de Cesarea a sus discípulos, es la que hoy nos inquieta a nosotros. ¿Quién decimos que es Jesús? Un Maestro, un Profeta, un soñador… Él es el Hijo de Dios que nos enseñó un camino de cruz y resurrección y ser sus discípulos es ir tras sus huellas, no adelantándose en el camino.
