Aferrados a las tradiciones antiguas recogidas en la Torah, los judíos que se acercaron a Jesús no daban crédito a lo que veían: sus discípulos no estaban guardando las tradiciones de los mayores. Parece un simple hecho anecdótico el que Marcos recoja en su evangelio este pasaje, sin embargo, nada se recoge sin un porqué o sin una enseñanza, puesto que los evangelios están perfectamente redactados con una profunda intención.
El culto al Dios vivo ha de tributarse con el corazón y no con los labios; los preceptos humanos son sólo eso: normas recogidas para el buen funcionamiento de la sociedad; sin embargo, la adoración que elevamos a Dios va muchos más allá de simples normas o comportamientos que podrían estar vacías de contenido vivencial.
Para los que intentamos seguir las huellas de Jesús hoy en día, este evangelio nos viene como anillo al dedo; estamos demasiado acostumbrados a seguir tradiciones y hemos separado el símbolo del significado. Podríamos recurrir a muchos ejemplos, pero cada cual sabe a qué nos podemos referir. Al separar el verdadero misterio de los símbolos externos con los que lo representamos, nuestro culto también se vuelve vacío y sinsentido.
Tan sólo lo que sale del corazón del hombre, del interior, de la auténtica fe, puede ser un testimonio válido del amor que tributamos a nuestro Dios. Por eso es necesario retomar el porqué de nuestras celebraciones, el verdadero sentido de nuestra oración, la lectura creyente de la Biblia, la ayuda fraterna a los más necesitados. Dándole un auténtico y renovado sentido a todas nuestras acciones nuestro culto a Dios se volverá vivo y agradable.
Los cristianos necesitamos vivir nuestra fe con ilusión y no como una carga; es preciso que le demos sentido a lo que hacemos y que miremos el horizonte de nuestra vida con una carga de esperanza. Si vivimos de este modo nuestra expresión externa de la fe se volverá más creíble y atrayente, de tal modo que sea un culto auténtico y una expresión sincera de lo que creemos.
Aferrarnos a tradiciones vacías de contenido no nos lleva más que a realizar actos sin sentido. Las tradiciones han de vivirse desde el corazón y siendo coherentes con lo que Jesús ha querido legarnos en su evangelio. Que sus palabras vibren en nuestros corazones y nos hagan despertar del letargo en el que a veces nos imbuimos.
