Domingo 26 del Tiempo Ordinario
(Mt 21,28-32) Imaginemos por un momento la escena: Jesús, hablando a los principales dirigentes de la religión judía; sumos sacerdotes y los grandes ancianos del pueblo, aquellos que influían con sus palabras en el resto del pueblo escogido. Y ahora ellos son los que reciben las palabras de un maestro, de un rabino, Jesús.
Y como acostumbraba, Jesús utiliza una parábola, un ejemplo, para abrir los ojos de los que le escuchaban, y también para aumentar más la ira de estos religiosos; porque la verdad fue una de las razones que le llevó a la cruz.
Al igual que los sacerdotes y los ancianos que le escuchaban, nosotros solemos compararnos también con el primer hijo; aquél que es enviado a trabajar a la viña del padre y asintió rápidamente para luego no ir. Nos golpeamos el pecho, hacemos nuestros deberes religiosos de asistir a la Eucaristía dominical, rezamos… nos creemos, en definitiva, justos.
Pero para desgracia nuestra, Jesús no ha venido a llamar a los justos sino a los pecadores. A los que se asemejan a ese segundo hijo rebelde por naturaleza o por circunstancias, que se niegan a ir a la viña de su padre; pero que más tarde, por unas u otras razones, recapacitan, se arrepienten y van.
Esos son los publicanos y las prostitutas del evangelio; ellos sí creyeron en las palabras de Juan, o en la de otros tantos profetas y precursores que escucharon el camino de la justicia y fueron por sus sendas.
Nos llevan la delantera aquellos que nosotros muchas veces hemos rechazado; sólo hay una actitud que diferencia a aquellos sacerdotes (o a nosotros) de los publicanos y las prostitutas de los que habla Jesús: el arrepentimiento.
Sólo desde una verdadera conversión del corazón, un arrepentimiento sincero y un cambio de vida se puede entender el mensaje del Reino de los cielos que predicó Juan y que llevó a plenitud Cristo. La conversión es una actitud del que se siente pobre y necesitado de la misericordia divina; del que se sienta atrás en el templo y se golpea el pecho suplicando perdón por las ofensas cometidas.
El camino propuesto por Jesús parte de una mano tendida a este tipo de gente: a los que son pecadores y quieren arrepentirse; a partir de ahí, caminar detrás de Jesús y seguir sus huellas, sabiendo que no estamos dejados de su mano.
