DOMINGO 23 TIEMPO ORDINARIO
(Mt 18,15-20) ¡Con lo sencillo que resulta criticar a los demás a su espalda y ahora Jesús viene a explicarnos otra forma radicalmente distinta de hablar de los demás! Las formas y los caminos de Dios no son los nuestros –resulta evidente-; seguimos pensando como los hombres y no como Dios.
Si miramos en el fondo de nuestro corazón –y quizá no tan en el fondo- nos cuesta sentirnos responsables de los demás. Preferimos “dejarlos en paz y ocuparnos de lo nuestro”. Y sin embargo, Jesús nos ha enseñado la importancia de la corrección fraterna oportuna. Sólo desde el cariño y la actitud de misericordia se puede vivir de verdad este tipo de corrección.
Jesús hace responsable a todos los miembros de la comunidad; todos pendientes unos de otros, puesto que nadie debe ser extraño para mí: me debo sentir responsable del bien de los demás. Si mi hermano va por mal camino, debo buscar el mejor modo de ponerle en guardia y animarle a que recapacite, ayudarle a que vea el camino que debe seguir.
Esto no significa que debemos tener a mano la lupa que mira al detalle los defectos de los demás; ¡más nos valdría mirarnos a nosotros mismos primero! Pero sí es cierto que estas palabras de Jesús nos hacen responsables, también, de la suerte de nuestros hermanos.
¿Cómo hacerlo? El mismo Jesús nos lo explica. Empezando por el diálogo de tú a tú, o sea, a modo de hermanos, sin agresividad, buscando el bien de la persona, no hablando a espaldas, ni difundiendo a los cuatro vientos los defectos de los demás, sino teniendo la valentía de hablarle a la persona concreta. Claro que resulta complicado, sobre todo porque tenemos miedo a cómo se reaccionará.
Pero el amor al hermano no se muestra sólo diciéndole palabras amables y de alabanza, sino también, cuando haga falta, con una de ánimo o de corrección. Podemos dar muchísimas palmaditas en la espalda para felicitar a un hermano nuestro cuando ha conseguido un gran proyecto, pero no tenemos la valentía y la humildad suficiente como para corregirlo cuando se ha equivocado en algo.
La corrección fraterna es un ejercicio de piedad y de misericordia, porque sólo desde el amor real a los que tenemos al lado pueden salir unas palabras que ayuden a ver qué es lo que se está haciendo mal.
Y al final del evangelio de hoy, unas palabras que nos llenan de consuelo a los cristianos: donde dos o más están reunidos en mi nombre, allí estoy Yo. Esa confianza de saber que Cristo camina a nuestro lado es la que nos mueve a vivir los valores que están enraizados en el evangelio, en una Buena Noticia de salvación que nos proporciona la felicidad.
