A Jesús se le va creando una fama de sanador, y ¡bien ganada la tenía después de lo que había hecho! Curaba enfermos, expulsaba demonios, hablaba con autoridad… Una fama que le precedía allá donde iba. Después de haber anunciado el Reino de Dios en la sinagoga, continúa su camino con Santiago y Juan. Entrando en la casa, se encuentra enferma a la suegra de Simón.
Sin embargo resulta llamativo cómo hay alguien que intercede por ella; “se lo dijeron a Jesús”; como si fuera necesario que alguien se acercara al Mesías para pedirle que curara su enfermedad. Y así lo hizo; tal y como se lo habían pedido, tal y como le habían intercedido, tomó de la mano a aquella mujer y se le pasó la fiebre.
Y seguía extendiéndose su fama por la región; poco a poco la gente iba escuchando lo que se decía de aquel hombre tan especial; hasta tal punto que le llevaban a la puerta a los enfermos y a los endemoniados para que los curara. Y una vez más cura a los que estaban aquejados de cualquier mal; pero a los endemoniados no les deja hablar.
Una nueva contraposición entre la Palabra y lo demoníaco, entre Jesús y los poseídos por espíritus inmundos; cuando Jesús habla, todo alrededor se vuelve silencio para poder acoger su mensaje. Los demonios sabían quién era: el Hijo de Dios; pero aún no había llegado la hora de manifestarse; todavía debía guardarse ese silencio, ese pequeño secreto que se descubriría más adelante, con su muerte y resurrección.
Su fama le precedía, pero también era necesaria la oración y el recogimiento; por eso se retira solo, a un lugar apartado del ruido, de la gente, de los que le buscaban; todos querían al sanador, al taumaturgo, lo buscaban con la intención de que siguiera su misión allí, entre ellos, que continuara liberando de enfermedades a sus familias…
Pero Jesús debe continuar su camino; ahora a los pueblos cercanos, ahora iría por toda Galilea predicando, pues para eso había venido, para anunciar la presencia real de Dios en este mundo, para comenzar su Reino.
Jesús se nos está mostrando como el Mesías esperado; los signos avalan su misión y todo apunta a que el Reino comenzaba a germinar; los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, a los demonios se les expulsa y se les ordena guardar silencio ante la Palabra hecha carne.
