DOMINGO 6º TIEMPO ORDINARIO
“Si quieres, guardarás sus mandatos, porque es prudencia cumplir su voluntad”. Así comienza la primera lectura de la misa de hoy. Nadie es obligado a hacer lo que no puede. Los mandamientos no son órdenes impuestas por alguien que no conoce nuestra debilidad. Responden a la dignidad y racionalidad del ser humano.
Esas palabras del libro del Eclesiástico o Sirácida (15,15–20) fueron citadas por el papa Juan Pablo II en su encíclica “El esplendor de la verdad”. Es una cita muy oportuna, en un tiempo en el que todos invocan el valor de la libertad, pero se disculpan del mal que han hecho, diciendo que no eran libres para evitarlo.
El texto nos dice a continuación: “Ante ti están puestos fuego y agua; echa mano a lo que quieras”. Nuestras opciones van fijando nuestra responsabilidad. La mayor parte de nuestras desdichas se deben a nuestra ceguera a la hora de elegir el camino.
MANDAMIENTOS Y VALORES
En el evangelio que hoy se proclama Jesús nos recuerda que no ha venido a abolir la ley de Moisés (Mt 5, 17–35). Muchos piden a la Iglesia que se decida a suprimir los mandamientos. Pero la Iglesia no puede hacer lo que ni Jesús mismo podía. Porque los mandamientos responden a los valores que nos hacen humanos.
- No basta con no matar, nos dice Jesús. Es preciso acoger a los hermanos, sin excluirlos de nuestras relaciones de fraternidad.
- No basta con no cometer adulterio. Es necesario aprender a establecer unas relaciones de amor limpias y transparentes, basadas en el compromiso y la fidelidad.
- No es preciso jurar. Estamos llamados a vivir en la verdad, a decir la verdad, a dar testimonio de la verdad, siempre y en todo lugar.
En su exhortación “La alegría del Evangelio”, el Papa Francisco nos advierte del peligro del relativismo con que tomamos nuestras opciones más profundas (n. 80).
MANDAMIENTOS Y LIBERTAD
En el texto evangélico de hoy, insertado en el marco del Sermón de la Montaña, Jesús nos advierte de un riesgo bastante frecuente: “El que se salte uno solo de los preceptos menos importantes, y se lo enseñe así a los hombres, será el menos importante en el reino de los cielos”.
- Saltarse uno de los preceptos significa colocar nuestro juicio por encima del juicio de Dios. Con ello reafirmamos nuestra sed de autonomía. Pero también demostramos que decidimos actuar “como si Dios no existiera”.
- Saltarse uno de los preceptos significa también que pretendemos olvidar la dignidad de nuestros hermanos. Con razón dice el Papa Francisco que eso nos lleva a actuar “como si los demás no existieran”.
– Señor Jesús, con demasiada frecuencia pensamos que los mandatos de Dios nos privan de nuestra libertad. Con tus palabras y tu ejemplo, tú nos enseñas que sólo en el cumplimiento de esos mandatos encontraremos nuestra libertad. Bendito seas. Amén.
