Resulta curioso observar cómo a través de mediaciones también se puede llegar a conocer quién es Cristo. Fue el Bautista, siempre dispuesto a señalar al Cordero, quien hizo las presentaciones formales a sus dos discípulos. “Éste es el Cordero de Dios”, ya lo había anunciado en su Bautismo, ahora lo presentaba a sus futuros seguidores. Y éstos, quizá por una simple curiosidad se preocupan por el lugar donde vivía Jesús. Tras la invitación de Jesús “venid y lo veréis” se abría todo un camino a recorrer, el camino del discípulo.
Lo siguieron por el testimonio de Juan, por una mediación; escribía al principio que resulta curioso ver cómo a través de mediaciones se puede llegar a Jesús, porque quizá estamos esperando una gran manifestación divina para ponernos en camino y seguirle; fue Juan el Bautista de quien se sirvió Dios para promover dos discípulos, para que lo conocieran; sería después Andrés quien se dirigió a su hermano Simón para presentarle al Mesías.
El diccionario define mediación como la acción de mediar, es decir, llegar a la mitad de algo; llama la atención como una mediación sólo es la mitad de un camino; es como si faltara otra parte por recorrer. Y es que lo que hizo el Bautista en un primer momento y luego Andrés con su hermano Simón, no fue más que empujar y guiar hacia el Mesías, pero sólo era la mitad del camino. La otra mitad debían recorrerlo personalmente.
En esa mitad del camino se encuentran con Jesús, una verdadera experiencia personal que les cambió la vida, que quedó grabado en su mente hasta tal punto de recordar la hora: las cuatro de la tarde; incluso a Simón esa experiencia le cambió de nombre, con todo lo que eso significaba para la cultura judía.
A partir de esos momentos les quedaba recorrer la otra mitad: la mediación había hecho su parte, ahora era la persona, el discípulo quien debía seguir las huellas de Jesús y disfrutar de su presencia.
Ser discípulo de Jesús, ser su seguidor, conlleva en muchos casos la actuación de una mediación, personas que nos han acercado a Jesús y nos lo han señalado como el Mesías, como el Dios en el que creen y que les ha reportado felicidad plena. Gracias a tantas personas como se han cruzado en nuestra vida y nos han mostrado una experiencia plena religiosa nosotros hemos llegado a conocer al Hijo de Dios.
Pero esa mediación se queda coja si no se finaliza el camino, si no se tiene la valentía de seguir las huellas de Jesús hasta su morada, para quedarse con Él. ¡Qué hermosa labor la de los mediadores que han hecho posible que muchos otros seamos cristianos!
