Aquella familia de Betania fue, seguramente, lugar de descanso para el Señor en muchas ocasiones; allí disfrutaría de la compañía de sus amigos y seguro que hablaría mucho de lo que le iba sucediendo y de lo que había venido a predicar; Marta y María hoy aprendían una lección que, como otras muchas, nunca olvidarían.
Me imagino a Marta andando de acá para allá para que el Maestro se sintiera a gusto; como cualquier madre que recibe a alguien en su casa; todos los destalles preparados, desviviéndose para que el invitado se sintiera como en su propia casa, cocinando sus mejores guisos para agradarle. De un sitio a otro para hacer de su casa, el hogar de Jesús.
Y por otro lado María, disfrutando de la compañía de Jesús; escuchando lo que hablaba, embelesada y fijos los ojos en quien le hablaba, preguntando, comentando, interiorizando el mensaje que le transmitía su Señor. Y estando así las cosas, ya Marta no pudo callarse. ¿Por qué María se quedaba allí tranquilamente sentada mientras ella no paraba de un sitio a otro?
Personalmente me parece que todos tenemos un poco de Marta y otro tanto de María; corremos de acá para allá intentando hacer las cosas lo mejor posible, hasta con buena intención y procurando que todo salga bien, con sentido cristiano. En otras ocasiones nos sentamos para disfrutar de la presencia de Jesús, escuchar su palabra y alimentarnos de su Cuerpo.
Tendremos que saber encontrar el equilibrio entre Marta y María; quizá el periodo vacacional nos propicia el poder respirar de las tareas cotidianas que tanto nos hacen estresarnos y poder reclinar nuestro pecho en el Maestro para escucharle con más tranquilidad. ¡Ya habrá tiempo de ponerse manos a la obra y comenzar de nuevo la tarea que se nos ha encomendado!
María y Marta son unas hermanas que nos quedan un ejemplo de acogida, en primer lugar: hicieron de su casa el hogar de Jesús; actitud que recuerda a nuestras familias la necesidad de no olvidar esa presencia importante de Dios en nuestras vidas y nuestros hogares. Por otro lado, Betania es para nosotros escuela de oración, porque nos anima a pararnos en la vida y hacer un pequeño reposo, atendiendo a la voz del Maestro.
Que nuestras vidas sean un equilibrio entre la escucha y la acción, entre la oración y la vida compartida.
