A la hora de comenzar un nuevo curso académico, todos debemos tomar las fuerzas suficientes y ponernos en manos de Dios para que se cumpla su voluntad. Quizá este evangelio de Lucas pueda servirnos de ayuda y nos sitúe en el camino del discipulado.
Mucha gente seguía a Jesús, tal vez por la fama que iba delante de Él allá donde se dirigía: milagros, curaciones, discursos, parábolas… Todo hacía presagiar un cambio en el pueblo judío; quizá muchos esperaban ese mesías–rey que tanto ansiaban y que creían leer en las Sagradas Escrituras. Sin embargo no se dejó seducir Jesús por el poder que se le ofrecía. Y tampoco quería crear falsas esperanzas en la multitud que iba detrás de Él.
Quien se decida a seguirle en plenitud debe dejar atrás mucho: debe renunciar a su vida y seguir las huellas en un sendero no exento de dificultades. No se lo ponía de color de rosas a sus discípulos; pero es que ser cristiano, con coherencia, conlleva renuncias.
Cargar con la cruz de cada día es asemejarnos a Cristo en su entrega por los demás; todos llevamos alguna cruz; no tan pesada como la de nuestro Maestro, que subió al Calvario para reconciliarnos con Dios y murió a favor de nuestros pecados. Sin embargo hemos de asumirla, saber que con ella renunciamos a nuestro propio yo para vivir en Dios. El madero de la cruz nos salva y nos acerca a Dios; no es solamente un símbolo, sino el lugar donde hemos sido llevados a una nueva vida.
Juntamente con este discurso de renuncia, Jesús recuerda la necesidad de organizar nuestra vida, de echar esos cálculos para saber con qué fuerzas contamos. Por eso decía que en este principio de curso académico, debemos sentarnos de nuevo para saber qué debemos potenciar respecto a tiempos pasados, o en qué debemos cambiar. Hacer un proyecto real de nuestra vida caminando en el Espíritu que debe movernos hacia Dios.
Nunca es tarde para iniciar de nuevo; es más, cada día se nos brinda la oportunidad de cambiar nuestra vida, de amar a los demás como Él nos ha amado. No olvidando que la cruz estará presente y que la renuncia a nuestros egoísmos y comodidades es un paso necesario para ser un auténtico discípulo de Jesús.
