FIESTA DE LA SAGRADA FAMILIA
Casi siempre se considera que la infancia es la época más feliz de la vida. Al menos, eso es lo que los adultos imaginamos. Pero, ¿es realmente así?
Es cierto que el niño parece con frecuencia feliz por su gran capacidad de disfrutar de casi todo con asombro. Ese mundo de juegos y ensueño que lleva dentro, esa fantasía que envuelve su vida le permiten moverse, reaccionar, pasar rápidamente del llanto a la risa.
Pero son muchos los niños que sufren, precisamente porque los adultos no sabemos acercarnos a ellos y cuidar mejor su felicidad.
Al niño se le mima, se le manipula, se le golpea y se le besa. Se le obliga a comer y se le manda callar. No se le escucha; se le amenaza, se le intenta programar para que diga y haga lo que queremos los mayores. Frecuentemente, se le agobia con libros, estudios y deberes. Se le restringe el tiempo de juego y fantasía. Se ahoga su creatividad y se le impide comportarse como adulto.
Y luego están los niños maltratados con el peor de los abandonos que es tenerlos cerca y no atenderlos y cuidarlos. Los niños que no reciben besos como premio, pero sí bofetones como castigo. Los que viven defendiéndose como pueden en medio de esa tragedia que es una pareja mal avenida. Los niños no amados, que son una carga para sus padres.
Y esos niños atropellados por las tremendas agresiones de los adultos. Y los niños que piden limosna por las calles, envueltos en roña y cubiertos de costras y sabañones. Niños mal alimentados. Con poca comida y menos cariño.
En la festividad de la Sagrada Familia en que recordamos a María y José defendiendo a su pequeño del atropello y la violencia, yo quiero rendir un homenaje a esos padres de paciencia casi infinita, que saben estar cerca de sus hijos. Padres que al llegar a su casa, dejan que sus hijos se les cuelguen del cuello. Madres que saben “perder tiempo” jugando con su niño. Esos hombres y mujeres a los que apenas nadie valora, pero que son grandes porque saben respetar, cuidar y hacer felices a sus hijos.
Aunque no lo sepan, están contribuyendo a hacer un mundo más humano porque a un niño feliz siempre le será más fácil ser un día un hombre bueno.
