DOMINGO 31 TIEMPO ORDINARIO
(Mt 23,1-12) ¡Cuántas veces decimos lo que no cumplimos! Podemos encontrar en el evangelio de este domingo dos lecciones importantes por boca de Jesús. La primera la coherencia de vida: vivir conforme a nuestro pensamiento y no pensar conforme a nuestra vida.
Las palabras de Jesús iban dirigidas en esta ocasión hacia aquellos que eran guías de las comunidades, los que con su ejemplo alentaban al pueblo a cumplir la Ley de Moisés y con sus sermones llamaban a la conversión. Era fácil para ellos cargar a los demás con minuciosos mandamientos que se olvidaban del verdadero espíritu de la Ley: el amor a Dios y el amor al prójimo.
Pero al igual que aquellos fariseos y letrados, también en nuestro tiempo encontramos “legisladores” que oprimen al pueblo con cargas innecesarias, siendo los primeros en no cumplirlas, puesto que, como dice el refrán, “el que hizo la ley, hizo la trampa”.
Aquella Ley de Dios, dada a Moisés, iba mucho más allá que la simple purificación de vasos o colocar en las jambas de las puertas la Palabra de Dios; todo iba orientado para no olvidar la alianza que había sellado con su pueblo. El corazón de la Ley es el amor, y eso no podemos olvidarlo; ¡y mucho menos convertirnos nosotros en legisladores o jueces que buscan los primeros puestos y el reconocimiento público!
Uno sólo es nuestro maestro; aquí nos queda Jesús la segunda lección; porque en multitud de ocasiones buscamos ejemplo en otros, o pretendemos seguir los pasos y los comportamientos de los demás. Nada más lejos de la intención de Dios, que quiere que sigamos únicamente sus huellas y caminemos por sus senderos.
La humildad debe ser la nota dominante de un cristiano; hacer y cumplir lo que Dios nos pide, amarlo a Él sobre todas las cosas y al prójimo como a nosotros mismos; sabiendo que el que quiera ser el primero debe ponerse al servicio de los demás, arrodillarse y lavarle los pies a los que nos rodean, ejemplo que Jesús nos dejó para que nosotros lo hiciésemos.
Basta ya de tantas flores como nos echamos o de tantos galardones como pretendemos; ojalá nuestra única medalla sean unas manos encalladas por el servicio a los demás y un corazón cansado de tanto amar a nuestro prójimo. Sólo desde el testimonio personal y no sólo desde nuestras palabras podremos ser testigos de la Resurrección de Cristo
