DOMINGO 32 TIEMPO ORDINARIO
(Mt 25,1-13) Vivimos demasiado tranquilos, olvidándonos de que estamos en esta vida de paso y que nos espera toda una eternidad; así nos lo recuerda Jesús en el evangelio de este domingo. La invitación a velar porque "no sabemos ni el día ni la hora” en que llegará el esposo, podría parecer como una advertencia a vivir en constante intranquilidad. Pero tampoco debemos vivir en un constante temor, en desasosiego; no sería tampoco humano.
Tener el corazón en vela implica una actitud que parte de una paz interior y una mirada puesta en la eternidad. El Señor así quiere recordárselo a sus discípulos con la parábola de las doncellas. Quizá la única diferencia entre unas doncellas y otras era su estado de ánimo. Las cinco prudentes ciertamente se durmieron en esa espera del esposo, pero antes estaban preparadas con las alcuzas llenas de aceite. Su ánimo, su corazón estaba esperando la venida de su señor.
Lo podemos comprobar en nuestra propia vida; multitud de situaciones en las que reaccionamos instintivamente y para las que estamos preparados, bien porque está en juego nuestra salud, o nuestra economía o nuestros sentimientos. Estamos como a la expectativa de cómo irán evolucionando los hechos, y lo tenemos todo listo por si surge algún imprevisto. Esa debe ser la actitud: estar preparados
Pero también nos parecemos a las doncellas necias que, llegado el tiempo de la calma, o del sueño, nos olvidamos de todo y nos dejamos sumergir en un profundo y tranquilo sueño donde nada nos importa ni nos preocupa: ahí hemos bajado la guardia y no estamos alerta.
Velar significa tener el corazón abierto, disponible, en alerta; y no porque vaya a ocurrir algo desagradable, sino porque Dios se manifiesta en cada momento de la vida, y no podemos dejar que pase de largo o ser indiferentes a su presencia. Estar en vela es tener una mirada atenta a los signos de los tiempos, saber descubrir cómo Dios nos habla en acontecimientos o personas, y salir a su encuentro allá donde se nos manifieste.
No podemos permitir que la llama de nuestra fe se nos apague, no podemos dejar pasar de largo la llegada del Esposo, ni olvidar la vida eterna a la que hemos sido llamados. Ese día llegará, antes o después, pero mientras tanto Dios continúa caminando por nuestra historia esperando que alguien le reconozca y le abra la puerta para sentarse a su mesa.
