(Mt 14,22-33) Tras el milagro de la multiplicación de aquellos cinco panes y peces, y con la gente saciada, Jesús quiere de nuevo recuperar la paz y la tranquilidad. Quiere orar, y por ello busca de nuevo la soledad, la intimidad con su Padre.
Solía pasar largos ratos rezando, dialogando, hablando con su Padre; una hermosa lección que nos queda este evangelio entre líneas. Hablando de amor con Aquél que lo había enviado al mundo para rehacer al hombre hijo de Dios. En la montaña, en el lago, en el desierto… cualquier lugar era bueno para dirigir su oración al Padre. Y siendo ya de noche quiso encontrarse de nuevo con sus amigos, sus discípulos.
A veces, Jesús quiere dejarnos también una lección de paz y serenidad, y algún que otro susto. Resulta curiosa la actitud de miedo de estos discípulos que acaban de presenciar que con unos pocos panes y peces habían recogido esos doce cestos de sobras tras saciar a una multitud de cinco mil hombres. Y ahora no acaban de creerse que el Maestro viniera andando sobre las aguas. Quizá nos parecemos mucho a ellos y no acabamos nosotros tampoco de creer en su Palabra, en su ejemplo, en sus milagros y en su modo de vida.
¡No tengáis miedo! ¡Ánimo! Son las palabras que el Maestro les dirige y que más adelante volverá a repetírselas para que acaben de creer que es Él en persona. No tengáis miedo; estoy con vosotros, y estoy a vuestro lado. Unas palabras no sólo de consuelo, sino de paz y tranquilidad.
Y cuando sube a la barca de los apóstoles, que se veía zarandeada por el viento contrario, automáticamente llega la calma. Es bonito pensar que la primera consecuencia de que dejemos entrar en nuestra vida a Jesús es que nos comunica su paz, su alegría interior, su confianza, su amor a la vida y a las personas.
Pero como casi siempre el impetuoso Pedro no acaba de convencerse y necesita ir hacia él repitiendo el mismo acontecimiento de andar sobre las aguas. Pedro es espontáneo, en ocasiones hasta parece que no piensa lo que dice. Y la fuerza del viento le hizo tambalearse, a pesar de que tenía al lado a Jesús, de que casi lo tocaba con sus manos… Empezó a hundirse. Pero una vez más, como si fuera esa mirada futura tras la triple negación, Jesús extiende su mano y evita que se hunda. El Señor es roca para su pueblo, apoyo y salvación para su ungido.
En verdad este es el Hijo de Dios, porque le obedecen las aguas y el viento… Esa fue la reacción de los otros discípulos al contemplar este episodio. Unas palabras que repetiría un centinela al pie de la cruz, tras su muerte, y que confirmaban la fe de esta pequeña comunidad que iba surgiendo con la fuerza del Espíritu. Que el viento no nos haga tambalear a nosotros que ya sabemos que en verdad es el Hijo de Dios.
