No tienen necesidad de curación los sanos, sino los enfermos; ¡y qué patente queda en este evangelio! Se acercaron a escucharle precisamente los publicanos y los pecadores, los que estaban siendo rechazados por sus propios paisanos, los excluidos debido a su trabajo o a los errores que habían cometido en su vida. Necesitaban esperanza, buscaban salvación en las palabras de aquel Maestro que hablaba con una autoridad distinta y superior a la de los demás.
Y precisamente para aquellos fariseos y letrados que tenían siempre dispuesto el dedo acusador levantado hacia los demás, Jesús dirigió esta serie de parábolas que no muestran otra cosa sino la misericordia y el perdón divinos. Este evangelio nos conforta en nuestra debilidad, por una sencilla razón: Dios siempre está dispuesto a perdonarnos. Arde en deseos de encontrarse con nosotros y de salir en busca nuestra, como el pastor corrió hacia su oveja perdida.
La alegría que se produce en el corazón de Dios es inimaginable cuando nos convertimos y nos arrepentimos de nuestros pecados. Semejante a la de esa mujer que perdió parte de su tesoro y que al encontrarlo salió a pregonarlo a sus vecinas. Dios es perdón y misericordia para quien reconoce su pecado.
Ama sin medida y no echa nada en cara; al contrario, hace una fiesta para nosotros si volvemos a su casa, como el padre de la parábola del hijo pródigo. Difícil de entender estos discursos para los fariseos, o para los que tienen un corazón empañado por el odio y el rencor. Y es que estamos acostumbrados a guardar en nuestro interior y apuntar todos los errores que se cometen; todo metido en una olla a presión que explota a nuestro antojo cuando lo creemos conveniente.
El corazón de Dios es totalmente distinto; perdona, ama, olvida. Todo va unido. El modo divino de su amor no es otro que el perdón sin medida. Mucho le hemos ofendido, pues más nos ha perdonado Él y más ha querido acercarse a nosotros.
Este evangelio va dirigido a los fariseos y letrados, a los acusadores; pero quienes lo necesitaban de verdad eran los pecadores y publicanos. Podemos sentirnos agradecidos y llenar nuestro corazón de lágrimas por el amor recibido, como seguro hicieron aquellos pecadores, o podemos recriminar a Dios que sea como es y seguir nuestro modo de vida apuntando al detalle lo que nos han ofendido. Seguro que nuestra vida será más feliz si esbozamos una alegre sonrisa al sentirnos amados y perdonados por Dios.
