Jesús resume toda su existencia con un único verbo: servir. El Hijo del hombre –dice– ha venido a esta tierra para servir. Para servir se abajó hasta abrazar la naturaleza humana y hacerse hombre como nosotros. Para servir nació pobre y humilde en Belén. Para servir vivió y trabajó como un hombre cualquiera. Para servir pasó haciendo el bien, curando a todos, y enseñó los misterios del Reino de los Cielos. Para servir cargó con la Cruz y murió con los brazos extendidos.
A la luz de la vida de Cristo, esta palabra –“servir”– tantas veces denostada e impopular brilla con toda su grandeza. Jesús vino al mundo para servir. Y tú ¿Para qué estás en el mundo? Porque si no vives para servir, no sirves para vivir.
