HABLA NUESTRO OBISPO
Queridos hermanos en el Señor:
Os deseo gracia y paz.
Entre el 18 y el 25 de enero celebramos la “Semana de Oración por la Unidad de los Cristianos”. El lema de este año es: “Reconciliación. El amor de Cristo nos apremia (cf. 2 Co 5,14-20)”.
San Pablo vivió la experiencia renovadora de la reconciliación. Se le comunicó un gozoso anuncio: que Jesús murió por todos, de modo que un estilo viejo de vida quedó definitivamente en el pasado. La humanidad tiene delante una posibilidad inédita: entrar en una manera nueva de existencia en la que se puede experimentar consuelo, confianza y perdón. La muerte y la resurrección de Jesucristo nos liberan de crearnos nuestro propio sentido y de vivir solamente a partir de nuestras fuerzas.
San Pablo sintió que el amor de Cristo le apremiaba a anunciar la Buena Nueva de la reconciliación con Dios. De igual modo, a todos los cristianos el mismo amor de Cristo nos apremia a anunciar el evangelio de la reconciliación.
En primer lugar, damos gracias a Dios Padre por habernos reconciliado a nosotros y a toda la creación en la persona de Cristo. Y le rogamos que nos haga capaces de trabajar en favor de la reconciliación. Para ello, es preciso que Él mismo sane las heridas de nuestros corazones y que nos ayude a ser testigos de su amor.
La reconciliación consigue atraer los ánimos desunidos. Son muchos los siglos de discordias y separaciones, de recelos e incomprensiones, de rechazos y enemistades. Es demasiado pesada la responsabilidad de la falta de unidad. Se trata de un auténtico escándalo que hace menos creíble el testimonio cristiano, porque lo desacredita ante los ojos y ante los corazones de tantas personas que desean acercarse a Jesucristo y encuentran una barrera en la desunión entre los cristianos.
En los “Materiales para la Semana de Oración por la Unidad de los Cristianos” reconocemos que el muro que nos separa está formado por diversas piedras: falta de amor, odio y desprecio, falsa acusación, discriminación, persecución, comunión rota, intolerancia, guerras de religión, división, abuso de poder, aislamiento, orgullo. Por todo ello pedimos perdón al Señor, y le rogamos que destruya el muro que hemos construido y que nos separa de Él y de los demás.
La oración es la base del diálogo ecuménico que llega a ser fecundo bajo la guía del Espíritu Santo, que es quien construye la unidad. La falta de unidad surge y se alimenta como consecuencia de la búsqueda de nuestro propio protagonismo. Pero la unidad solamente tiene un protagonista: el Espíritu Santo, que es quien nos interpela, nos guía y nos conduce hacia la unidad.
Hemos de caminar con paso firme y determinado hacia el restablecimiento de la comunión plena. Hemos de orar para que todos los cristianos formemos una sola familia. Hemos de incrementar nuestro compromiso para favorecer la plena unidad.
El Papa Francisco dijo en el Ángelus del 25 de enero de 2015: “Es algo feo que los cristianos estén divididos. Jesús nos quiere unidos: un solo cuerpo. Nuestros pecados, la historia, nos han dividido y por eso tenemos que rezar mucho, para que sea el Espíritu Santo mismo quien nos una nuevamente”.
