SOLEMNIDAD DE LA ASCENSIÓN DE JESÚS
(Mt 28,16-20) Al final de su evangelio, Mateo nos muestra el mandato de Jesús a sus discípulos de predicar, bautizar y enseñar; coincide este texto con la fiesta de la Ascensión de Jesús a los cielos, con el retorno del Hijo al Seno del Padre, del que salió.
Pero antes de partir les queda, y nos ha quedado a todos sus discípulos, un mandamiento muy especial: id y haced discípulos; id y predicad; id y anunciad a todos lo que habéis visto y oído, lo que habéis experimentado conmigo. Sed testigos de la buena Noticia del Evangelio.
Lo que Jesús les recuerda a sus discípulos antes de partir es el deber de continuar su obra en Iglesia, en Comunidad. Enseñar a toda la humanidad lo que han conocido de Dios. Y entonces les dice que Él se va pero no les quedará solos, sino que permanecerá a su lado. Sabed que yo estoy con vosotros.
La escena se sitúa en un monte, en ese lugar sagrado por excelencia, cerca de Dios, lugar en el que otras ocasiones se había manifestado la gloria de Dios. El monte donde Moisés recibió los mandamientos, el monte de las bienaventuranzas, el de la transfiguración… Ahora la tierra se eleva para recibir las últimas palabras de Cristo: Id y bautizad.
“Id a Galilea, yo voy por delante, allí os encontraré”. En Galilea comenzó su misión, su vida pública; ahora es el lugar en el que comienzan los Apóstoles la suya. En el monte Jesús les hablará por última vez antes de ascender al Cielo.
Tras este último diálogo de Jesús con sus discípulos, y como nos lo muestran otros evangelistas, Jesús asciende al cielo. La fiesta de hoy es un motivo de alegría porque recordamos el día en que la pequeñez de nuestra naturaleza humana ha sido elevada, con Cristo, hasta el Reino del Padre. La Ascensión es la glorificación personal de Cristo como el hombre perfecto.
Todos hemos sido abrazados por Dios en la Pascua. Todos hemos subido a la dignidad de ser hijos del Padre. Este evangelio nos queda a las puertas del paso de este mundo al Padre. Es la Pascua de Jesús. Había venido del Padre, vuelve a Él. Es constituido otra vez en la dignidad de Hijo. Es el momento pascual en el que asume todo el poder. Es el momento en el que se presenta en la gran asamblea para abrir el libro del corazón de Dios. Regresa adonde vino no con las manos vacías, sino con la vida recuperada de los hombres para ofrecérsela al Padre.
Hacer discípulos, bautizar y enseñar; una triple misión que ha de continuar la Iglesia de nuestros días; acomodándose a los tiempos y nunca olvidando la presencia permanente de Jesús;
