¿QUÉ ES EL DOMUND?
El DOMUND es el día en que la Iglesia universal reza por los misioneros y misioneras y colabora con ellos en su labor evangelizadora desarrollada entre los más pobres.
La Jornada Mundial de las Misiones, conocida en España como DOMUND, se celebra en todo el mundo el cuarto domingo de octubre. El DOMUND es una llamada de atención sobre la común responsabilidad de todos los cristianos en la evangelización e invita a amar y apoyar la causa misionera. Los misioneros dan a conocer a todos el mensaje de Jesús, especialmente en aquellos lugares del mundo donde el Evangelio está en sus comienzos y la Iglesia aún no está asentada.
Estos lugares son conocidos como Territorios de Misión, están confiados a la Congregación para la Evangelización de los Pueblos y dependen en gran medida de la labor de los misioneros y del sostenimiento económico las Obras Misionales Pontificias de todo el mundo. Mediante el DOMUND, la Iglesia trata de cubrir estas carencias y ayudar a los más desfavorecidos a través de los misioneros.
El DOMUND es el momento culminante de una corriente de animación misionera y de cooperación con las misiones que se realiza durante todo el año, pero de una manera muy especial durante el “Octubre Misionero”, el mes de las misiones.
¿Por qué celebramos el DOMUND?
La supervivencia de los Territorios de Misión depende de los donativos. El DOMUND es una llamada a la colaboración económica de los fieles. Gracias a su generosidad se construyen templos, se compran vehículos, se forman catequistas, se atienden proyectos sociales, sanitarios y educativos en las misiones.
Cada año llevan se llevan a cabo Proyectos Pastorales como:
La construcción de iglesias y capillas; la compra y sostenimiento de vehículos para la pastoral; la formación básica y permanente de los responsables de la pastoral; el sostenimiento de comunidades religiosas; el mantenimiento de los catequistas misioneros;
También se realizan Proyectos Sociales, Educativos y Sanitarios:
La Iglesia tiene una amplia labor social y educativa en todo el mundo: atiende a 117.119 instituciones sociales: hospitales, residencias de ancianos, orfanatos y comedores para personas necesitadas en todo el mundo. Se encarga de 209.688 instituciones educativas: guarderías, escuelas, universidades y centros de formación profesional.
En los Territorios de Misión la Iglesia atiende a 26.711 instituciones sociales. Esto significa que el 22,81% de las instituciones sociales del mundo están en la Misión. La Iglesia en estos territorios también se encarga de 99.045 instituciones educativas, lo que representa el 47,23% del total de instituciones educativas que tiene la Iglesia.
Todos estos proyectos son financiados con los donativos recogidos en el DOMUND. Las misiones siguen necesitando nuestra ayuda económica por eso muy necesaria toda nuestra colaboración.
