HOMILÍA
Nos encontramos celebrando, en este domingo, la fiesta de la Presentación del Señor en el templo, la Purificación de nuestra Señora, la Candelaria, la fiesta que nos recuerda que Jesús es la luz que todos necesitamos para caminar por el sendero de la vida. En este día, celebramos también la Jornada de la Vida Consagrada, con ese lema que figura en los carteles alusivos: “La Vida Consagrada con María, esperanza de un mundo sufriente”. Hacemos hoy memoria de un hecho cotidiano en la Palestina del tiempo de Jesús. A los cuarenta días de su nacimiento todo primogénito varón debía ser presentado al Señor y consagrado a él. Tenía lugar una ofrenda. Y, lo que, en principio, pudo parecer un mero cumplimiento de la Ley de Moisés, se convirtió, en realidad, en un encuentro gozoso con el pueblo creyente.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Malaquías. Siglos antes del nacimiento de Jesús, el profeta anuncia la entrada del Señor en su santuario para purificar, para limpiar, para transformar a los levitas. Y, una vez purificados, limpios y transformados, los levitas podrán ofrecer un sacrificio justo que agradará al Señor. Pidamos en este día que nosotros también seamos purificados, limpios y transformados para poder ofrecer el sacrificio de nuestra vida con un corazón plenamente renovado. El tiempo cuaresmal nos lo recordará en su día.
La segunda lectura, de la carta a los Hebreos, nos ha hablado de Jesús que participó de nuestra misma carne y sangre, que tiende su mano a todo ser humano para librarle del mal y del pecado, que es un sacerdote misericordioso y fiel, que nos auxilia cuando somos tentados. Este Jesús, profundamente humano, es al estamos llamados a dirigir nuestra plegaria. No rezamos a un Dios inaccesible e inalcanzable sino a un Jesús Dios que se ha hecho uno de nosotros, que nos conoce desde dentro, que ha experimentado también el dolor y la muerte.
En el evangelio de San Lucas hemos escuchado el relato completo de aquella presentación de Jesús en el Templo. De su encuentro con Simeón y Ana, de la ofrenda que hicieron, de unas misteriosas palabras que llenaron de preocupación el corazón de María. Recemos hoy por todos los hombres y mujeres que se han consagrado al Señor y que llevan en su corazón el sufrimiento de aquellos a los que sirven, desde la oración en un monasterio a la vida activa aquí o en tierras de misión.
