HOMILÍA
Hoy es un día especial, ya que comenzamos un nuevo tiempo litúrgico, el Adviento, que nos preparará para acoger en nuestro corazón al Jesús que nació en aquella primera Navidad de la historia. El Adviento es un tiempo de espera, de esperanza, de conversión, de oración intensa, de lectura atenta de esa Palabra de Dios que nos vendrá de la mano de todos aquellos autores bíblicos que más nos insistieron en la venida de un Mesías que colmaría los anhelos de toda la humanidad. Dejémonos guiar por ellos.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del profeta Isaías. Sueña con un futuro, en el que los pueblos y las gentes que los habitan, se encontrarán ante el Señor. Un futuro en el que, “de las espadas se forjarán arados, de las lanzas, podaderas; en el que no alzará la espada pueblo contra pueblo, en el que nadie se adiestrará para la guerra, en el que todos caminarán a la luz del Señor”. Soñemos nosotros también con ese futuro de paz, cuando sabemos que hay tantas guerras, conflictos y violencias en muchas partes de nuestro planeta.
La segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los Romanos, nos ha hablado de cómo la noche de la humanidad está dando paso a un día claro y diáfano en el que estamos llamados a comportarnos así: “Nada de comilonas y borracheras, nada de lujuria y desenfreno, nada de riñas y envidias. Revestíos más bien del Señor Jesucristo”. En este tiempo de Adviento, esforcémonos por vivir de acuerdo con el mensaje de Jesús.
En el relato del Evangelio de San Mateo se nos ha recordado que, además de la venida de Jesús en la Navidad, habrá también otra venida, del mismo Jesús, al final de los tiempos. Y que, tanto para la una como para la otra, tenemos que prepararnos, estar en vela. No podemos vivir como si esas venidas no fueran a tener lugar. Que el Señor nos auxilie.
