Leemos hoy un evangelio cuando menos desconcertante; por varias razones. Encontramos, en primer lugar una situación paradójica: no todo el mundo recibía a Jesús, a pesar de la fama que le precedía. Habría que entender que los samaritanos no se llevaban muy bien con los jerosolimitanos, y tal vez por eso impidieron que el Maestro se quedara allí. Pero lo que llama la atención es el ímpetu de Santiago y Juan por querer eliminar a toda aquella gente. No acababan de entender quién era Jesús y cómo actuaba.
Luego Lucas nos narra el caso de tres jóvenes que pudieron ser discípulos de Jesús, y que quedaron en vocaciones frustradas por la respuesta dada por el Señor. Quien no lo conoce, podría tildarlo de duro, tajante, e incluso de intolerante. Pero la radicalidad del evangelio, en ocasiones, es así.
A cada uno de ellos, una respuesta que desconcierta: Leídas literalmente podrían resultar hasta intransigentes y radicales. Al primero le anuncia que no tendrá nada, ni siquiera cobijo. Era como decirle que se lo pensara muy bien, que no era fácil su seguimiento, que habría muchas dificultades y renuncias, y que no cualquiera podía ir por ese camino.
Al segundo le queda claro que no admite dilaciones; Él llama y quiere una respuesta; no espera a que se lo piense, ni a que entierre su pasado o sus parientes muertos.
Al tercero le hace ver que el pasado es sólo historia si hubiera decidido seguirle. El Señor no es intolerante, pero sí es exigente. Pide coherencia de vida, y en los tiempos que corren esto no resulta fácil.
Desconcertante el evangelio y paradójicas las respuestas que el Señor da a cada uno de los que se encuentra por el camino; pero esto es lo que conlleva encontrarse con Jesús. Cuando lo descubres tu vida o cambia por completo, o sigues tu camino. No hay vuelta de hoja. La mirada de Jesús es penetrante y desconcertante; te lleva a un mundo nuevo, te pide servicialidad y coherencia; necesita discípulos valientes que estén dispuestos a cargar con la cruz y seguirlo.
Evidentemente somos humanos y todos caemos una y otra vez; no es eso lo que le importa a Jesús, puesto que Él murió por todos nuestros pecados para llevarnos a Dios. No es la Iglesia un grupo de seres perfectos, pero sí una comunidad de personas creyentes en Cristo como Hijo de Dios y Salvador que intenta seguirle por el camino de la vida con la mayor coherencia posible.
