HOMILÍA
Cuando los seres humanos terminamos un año y comenzamos otro nuevo, lo solemos llenar de fiesta y de alegría. Es como si quisiéramos dejar atrás todo lo malo que vivimos en el año que se acaba y, que esa alegría que une los dos años, fuera el preludio de un año en el que podamos disfrutar de una buena salud y de toda la felicidad que soñamos para nosotros y para aquellos que más queremos.
Los cristianos comenzamos los años haciendo memoria de Santa María como Madre de Dios, quizás una de las fiestas más antiguas con las que le hemos venido honrando. Ella nos acompaña ya desde el primer día. No la olvidemos. Invoquémosla todos los días. Que, desde el corazón, llegue a nuestra mente y a nuestros labios el Ave María y esa sucesión de Aves Marías que es el Rosario. También la Salve y tantas otras jaculatorias y frases que aprendimos de niños.
También los cristianos hacemos hoy memoria de lo necesaria que es la paz. Los medios de comunicación nos hablan, con frecuencia de guerras, de conflictos, de violencias. Al Papa Pablo VI le pareció que la mejor forma de comenzar los años era pensando en la paz, rezando por ella, siendo solidarios con los que sufren a causa de ella. Seamos constructores de paz allí donde nos encontremos: en el seno de nuestras familias, en el lugar de trabajo, en la comunidad de vecinos, en nuestro pueblo. “Dichosos los que trabajan por la paz” es, quizás, una de las bienaventuranzas más hermosas.
Probablemente, muchos de nosotros, nos propongamos cumplir toda una serie de buenos propósitos. ¡Ojala que, entre esos buenos propósitos, no falten los que hacen referencia a la fe y al compromiso cristiano, a la formación que necesitamos como tales, a la recepción de los sacramentos, a la plegaria, a la Eucaristía de cada domingo!
