HOMILÍA
Celebra hoy la Iglesia la Solemnidad de la Ascensión de Jesús a los cielos. Una fiesta que ha tenido siempre un gran eco en las comunidades cristianas. En muchas de ellas, los niños han hecho su Primera Comunión. Este año, la pandemia nos obliga a modificar las fechas. Pero lo que importa en que, todos y cada uno de los cristianos, vivamos este día pensando en el Jesús que se va y que, a la vez, se queda entre nosotros en la Eucaristía, en el Evangelio, en el amor que nos dejó como nuestro signo distintivo, en esa familia que es la Iglesia.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles y nos ha descrito los últimos momentos de Jesús entre los suyos, las últimas palabras que les dirigió: “Recibiréis la fuerza del Espíritu y seréis mis testigos hasta el confín de la tierra.” Esa misma fuerza, que los apóstoles recibieron, viene sobre nosotros cuando nos acercamos a los sacramentos. De una forma especial, cuando el obispo nos unge con aceite en la frente y nos dice: “Recibe por esta señal el don del Espíritu Santo.” Ser testigos de Jesús, con la fuerza del Espíritu, es la más hermosa misión que se nos ha podido confiar.
En la segunda lectura, de San Pablo a los cristianos de Éfeso, nos ha recordado a Jesús que ha sido sentado a la derecha de Dios Padre y que ha sido constituido cabeza de la Iglesia. El prefacio de la misa nos dirá que “donde nos ha precedido él, que es nuestra cabeza, esperamos llegar también nosotros, como miembros de su cuerpo.” El destino de Jesús es nuestro destino, pero antes estamos llamados a ser anunciadores de su mensaje como hicieron los apóstoles tras su partida y de recibir la fuerza del Espíritu Santo. Así nos lo ha contado el evangelista San Marcos. ¡Ojala que la fiesta de la Ascensión de Jesús nos estimule a ser misioneros con nuestra palabra y con nuestra vida!
