HOMILÍA
Hemos escuchado las lecturas correspondientes al último domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Hoy, la Iglesia, antes de comenzar un nuevo año litúrgico el próximo domingo, nos invita a considerar a Jesús como Rey del Universo. Pero no un Rey al estilo humano con su corte y sus ejércitos. Jesús es Rey, como confesó ante Poncio Pilato, pero su realeza nada tiene que ver con los reinos de este mundo. Está más cerca de la imagen de un Buen Pastor, como nos recordaba el Profeta Ezequiel en la primera lectura.
O de la presentación que nos hacia San Pablo en la segunda lectura. Para el Apóstol, Jesús es también un Rey pero un Rey muy especial. Si tiene corona, esta es de espinas; si tiene trono, este es la cruz. El Jesús Rey que nos presenta San Pablo es el Cristo de la Pasión y de la Cruz. También el Cristo que resucita, el Cristo que vuelve a la vida vencedor del pecado, del mal y de la muerte; el Cristo que, a través de cada uno de los creyentes, está empeñado en destruir todo lo que hace sufrir a los hombres: “El último enemigo aniquilado será la muerte”. Por eso, ser creyentes en este Jesús implica un esfuerzo por mejorar la suerte de los hombres, una lucha contra la pobreza, contra el hambre, contra todo tipo de dolor o sufrimiento.
Es lo que nos ha venido a decir Jesús en el Evangelio. Nos ha contado la parábola del Juicio Final. Aquel día, Él será como ese Pastor que separa a unos de otros. A un lado pondrá, no a los más importantes, sino a los que se preocuparon, con obras y de verdad, de la suerte de los más necesitados. A los que dieron de comer a los hambrientos, de beber a los sedientos; a los que visitaron a los enfermos y a los encarcelados. A los que acogieron a los peregrinos, a los mendigos, a los transeúntes forzosos, a los marginados. A los que mostraron compasión y misericordia, a los que se esforzaron por hacer la vida más agradable a los demás.
Y al otro lado pondrá a los que acumularon bienes para sí pero no supieron ser ricos ante Dios; a los que, por egoísmo, negaron lo más elemental a sus hermanos los hombres, como el pan y el agua. A los que hicieron de la comodidad, de la pereza una norma de vida que les impidió construir algo positivo en favor de los demás; a los que no les importó la suerte de los encarcelados; a los que huyeron cuando la enfermedad se hizo presente en los amigos y en los familiares; a los que cerraron las puertas de sus casas para no ser molestados por los pobres. Es bueno que todos hagamos un serio examen de conciencia y que nos preguntemos en qué lado nos encontraríamos si hoy fuéramos juzgados. Que Jesús nos ayude a elegir la mejor opción
