HOMILÍA
Celebramos hoy la solemnidad de Cristo Rey con la que concluye el tiempo ordinario y el año litúrgico. El próximo domingo comenzaremos un nuevo tiempo del Adviento, un nuevo ciclo litúrgico, esta vez de la mano del evangelista San Lucas. Hoy, el Jesús de los milagros y de las parábolas, el Jesús que recorría los caminos y los pueblos de Palestina, el Jesús nacido en Belén, que vivió y trabajó en Nazaret, el Jesús que murió en la cruz y resucitó al tercer día…lo consideramos, lo vemos y lo tenemos como nuestro rey, rey del universo; el que habló y predicó por activa y por pasiva el Reino de Dios: el reino de la verdad, de la justicia, del amor. El que nos invitó a trabajar por hacerlo realidad, ya aquí en nuestra tierra. Amar, compartir, hacer el bien, ayudar a los necesitados, tener a Dios como Padre, es construir su reino.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de Daniel. Un libro del antiguo testamento, lleno de imágenes y de símbolos. Hoy nos hablaba de un misterioso personaje al que llamaba “Hijo del Hombre.” Sabemos, por el evangelio, que Jesús utilizó en muchísimas ocasiones esta misma expresión para referirse a sí mismo. El profeta nos dice que a este Hijo del Hombre se le dio el poder y el dominio sobre todas las cosas y que su reino no tendrá fin. Dejemos que estas palabras llenen de paz y de serenidad nuestro corazón. El Jesús, en quien creemos, tiene en su mano todo lo que necesitamos para salvarnos. Ningún mal podrá con nosotros si nos aferramos a él.
La segunda lectura, del libro del Apocalipsis, también nos hablaba, utilizando, como la primera lectura, imágenes y símbolos, de ese Jesús “príncipe de los reyes de la tierra.” Del Jesús redentor, salvador, principio y fin de todas las cosas. ¡Ojala que hoy, desde lo más íntimo de nosotros mismos, entonemos un himno de alabanza a este Jesús Todopoderoso que vendrá para llevarnos con él a su reino del cielo si, aquí en la tierra, hemos sabido construir un mundo mejor, más justo, mas fraterno, más solidario!
El relato del evangelio de San Juan nos ha trasladado a un escenario dramático: Jesús está ante Pilato, el gobernador romano que debe firmar la sentencia de muerte que le llevará a la cruz. En el diálogo que se establece entre ellos hablan de un reino pero, cada uno de ellos, entiende cosas diferentes. Pilato le pregunta si se considera un rey con la pretensión de hacerle sombra al César de Roma. Jesús les contesta que su reino no es de este mundo. Que sí que es rey pero no un rey al estilo humano con su corte y sus ejércitos. Su reino tiene que ver, más bien, con la verdad, con la justicia, con el amor. Miremos al Jesús clavado en la cruz como nuestro rey. Tiene la corona de espinas, la cruz como su trono y a nosotros como constructores de su reino en la tierra.
