HOMILÍA
Estamos celebrando la solemnidad de Cristo Rey en el último de los domingos del llamado tiempo ordinario. El siguiente domingo ya nos hablará de que ha comenzado el tiempo del Adviento, el tiempo de la espera de la venida de Jesús hecho niño en Belén. Pero no adelantemos acontecimientos. Hoy miramos a Jesús y le vemos como Rey del universo, como rey de un “reino eterno y universal, el reino de la verdad y la vida, el reino de la santidad y la gracia, el reino de la justicia, el amor y la paz” como nos dirá luego el prefacio de la Misa. Como vemos, nada que ver con los reinos de este mundo. Vamos a acercarnos al contenido de las lecturas que acabamos de escuchar.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del segundo libro de Samuel y nos ha relatado la historia de la unción de David como rey de Israel por parte de los representantes de todas las tribus. David fue un rey de una gran importancia en la historia de su pueblo. Tan es así que, en la época de Jesús, cuando los enfermos se le acercaban para que los curara le decían: “Jesús, hijo de David, ten compasión de nosotros”. Ya sabemos que Jesús no fue un rey al estilo de David. No tuvo ejército, ni corte, ni riquezas, ni todas esas cosas que rodearon aquel reinado. Jesús habló de que venía a establecer entre los hombres el “Reino de Dios” o, lo que es lo mismo, un reino en el que todos se quisieran como hermanos bajo la mirada amorosa de un Padre Dios.
La segunda lectura la hemos tomado de una carta que San Pablo escribió a la comunidad cristiana de Colosas. En esa comunidad, influidos por la filosofía y la cultura reinantes, muchos pensaban que Jesús era un espíritu más, un mediador más entre el Padre Dios y los seres humanos y no necesariamente el más importante. Pablo les escribe para poner a Jesús en su sitio. Dice de Él que es imagen de Dios invisible, primogénito de toda criatura, que por medio de él fueron creadas todas las cosas, que Él es anterior a todo y todo se mantiene en Él, que Él es la cabeza de la Iglesia, el principio, el primero en todo. Esto es lo que debe ser Jesús para nosotros también: lo primero, lo más grande, lo más importante, el que reina en nuestras vidas.
El relato del evangelio lo oímos muchas veces en los funerales por la frase con la que termina y en la que Jesús le asegura al Buen ladrón que “hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.” Pero si hoy lo hemos escuchado es más bien por la petición que le hace ese Buen Ladrón: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando llegues a tu Reino.” ¡Ojala que esta sea también una de nuestras frases preferidas, una de esas peticiones que repitamos una y mil veces, sin temor a ser pesados: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando llegues a tu Reino”! Un reino que nos espera a todos, si hemos sabido vivir en la justicia, en el amor y en la paz.
