HOMILÍA
La Iglesia celebra en este día la Solemnidad de la Ascensión de Jesús a los cielos. Una fiesta impregnada de nostalgia por el Jesús que se va, pero una fiesta que nos invita al compromiso, a continuar la misma misión evangelizadora de los Apóstoles y de aquellas primeras comunidades cristianas.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. En ella hay una serie de datos que no podemos pasar por alto. El Jesús que se va, anuncia la promesa de la venida del Espíritu Santo. Los Apóstoles van a dejar de ver y de tocar al Maestro pero no se van a quedar solos en su misión evangelizadora. Jesús les promete la asistencia del Espíritu. Un Espíritu Santo que les recordará todo cuanto Él les ha dicho, que dará seguridad a sus palabras, que les fortalecerá en los momentos de desanimo, que les impulsará a ir siempre más adelante, que les hará superar las dificultades y encontrar el camino mejor. Un Espíritu que les dará fuerza, incluso, para derramar su sangre como supremo testimonio por el nombre de Cristo.
En este relato de la Ascensión de Jesús hay una palabra que hoy, como en aquel entonces, está cargada de fuerza. Una palabra que define, como ninguna otra, la misión que tenemos encomendada los creyentes. Es la Palabra testigos. Decía Jesús: “Cuando el Espíritu Santo descienda sobre vosotros recibiréis fuerza para ser mis testigos en Jerusalén, en toda Judea, en Samaria y hasta los confines del mundo”. Ser testigos, dar testimonio de Jesús: este es nuestro trabajo, la misión que estamos llamados a desarrollar si nos queremos honrar con el nombre de cristianos.
Al final, el evangelista San Lucas recoge las palabras de dos misteriosos personajes vestidos de blanco que decían a los discípulos tras haber presenciado la partida de Jesús: “Galileos, ¿qué hacéis ahí plantados mirando al cielo? El mismo Jesús que os ha dejado para subir al cielo, volverá como le habéis visto marcharse”. Estas palabras también están escritas para nosotros. Nuestra misión como creyentes no puede consistir en estar mirando continuamente hacia atrás, en admirarnos del Jesús del Evangelio. Nuestra misión mira hacia el futuro. Hacia un futuro mejor que entre todos debemos construir para que, cuando Jesús vuelva al final de los tiempos, podamos hacerle la ofrenda de un mundo más justo, más fraterno, más solidario. En definitiva, más cercano al ideal del evangelio.
Recemos por tantos niños como, en este día, hacen su primera comunión y comprometámonos a vivir de tal manera que siempre puedan ver en nosotros a testigos auténticos de Jesús.
