HOMILÍA
Celebra hoy la Iglesia la Solemnidad de la Ascensión de Jesús a los cielos. Una fiesta de gran importancia entre los cristianos de todos los tiempos. Alrededor de este día, muchos niños y niñas de nuestras parroquias se han venido acercando a recibir por primera vez a Jesús en la Comunión. Este año, a causa de la pandemia que nos azota, se han retrasado las Primeras Comuniones en nuestra Diócesis hasta el comienzo del nuevo curso escolar. Pero, a pesar de eso, bueno será que siga creciendo nuestra fe y nuestra devoción hacia el Cristo Eucaristía, hacia el Cristo que deja de estar visiblemente presente para ascender al cielo, pero que se queda con nosotros en el pan y en el vino consagrados. No es, pues, una despedida total. Es quedarse de otro modo.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. Nos ha conservado las últimas palabras de Jesús. Y esas palabras nos hablan de un mandato que nos obliga a salir de nosotros mismos, de la seguridad de nuestras comunidades, para ser testigos de Jesús más allá de los límites de nuestra casa y de nuestra parroquia. Ser testigos de Jesús, hablar de él, vivir como él es algo que nos afecta a todos. Ser testigos de Jesús no es algo exclusivo de los sacerdotes, de los religiosos, de los misioneros. Todos, por el hecho de estar bautizados, estamos llamados a extender el mensaje de Jesús allí donde nos encontremos: en nuestro lugar de trabajo o de diversión, con los familiares, con los amigos, con los vecinos, con las personas que, a a diario, nos encontramos.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Éfeso, nos ha hablado de una oración que estamos llamado a hacer: Pedir al Señor que ilumine los ojos de nuestro corazón, que nos dé espíritu de sabiduría y revelación para que, conociendo bien a Jesús y a su mensaje, lo demos a conocer a todos.
El relato del evangelio de San Mateo nos ha recordado también las últimas palabras de Jesús. Tres cosas nos pide: que vayamos por todo el mundo anunciando su Palabra. Que, aquellos que acepten su mensaje, sean bautizados en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo y que les enseñemos a guardar todo lo que él nos ha enseñado. Sabiendo siempre, eso sí, que contamos con su presencia: “Yo estaré con vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo.” No tengamos miedo de la tarea
