HOMILÍA
Celebra hoy la Iglesia una de sus fiestas más importantes. Después de haber estado recordando la resurrección de Jesús durante todo el tiempo pascual, hoy le vemos ascender al cielo y desaparecer de su vista. “No se va para desentenderse de este mundo sino que ha querido precedernos, como cabeza nuestra, para que nosotros, miembros de su cuerpo, vivamos con la ardiente esperanza de seguirlo en su reino” tal y como nos relata el prefacio de esta misa. Aclamemos al Jesús que se va pero, sobre todo, al Jesús que se queda con nosotros en la Eucaristía y en el amor que nos dejó como su mejor regalo.
Este Jesús “que asciende a lo más alto del cielo como mediador entre Dios y los hombres” nos deja unos deberes que cumplir al convertirnos en testigos suyos. “Vosotros sois testigos de todo esto” les dice al despedirse. ¿Qué supone ser testigos de Jesús en el mundo que nos toca vivir? Implica hacer del amor nuestro signo distintivo. Un amor que se ha de traducir en una actitud de servicio para con todos. De una forma especial, para con los pobres y necesitados. Quien nos vea a nosotros, debería estar viendo a Jesús. Quien nos vea a nosotros, debería experimentar el amor de Jesús.
La Madre Teresa de Calcuta, ya santa, decía en cierta ocasión: “Que nadie se acerque a nosotros sin que, al marchar, se sienta mejor y más feliz.” El Jesús que se va y desaparece de la vista de los suyos, nos deja a nosotros y somos nosotros los encargados de mostrarle a él con nuestras palabras y nuestras acciones. No le defraudemos. Muchos de nuestros contemporáneos no irán a la iglesia, no participarán en los sacramentos, no irán a la catequesis o a clases de formación pero nos tendrán a nosotros en la calle, en el trabajo, en los lugares de diversión y, lo que conozcan de Jesús, será a través nuestro. ¡Qué gran tarea tenemos!
