HOMILÍA
Celebra hoy la Iglesia la fiesta de Pentecostés. La fiesta que nos recuerda la venida del Espíritu Santo sobre los Apóstoles. En numerosas ocasiones Jesús les había anunciado a los suyos que, cuando él faltara, cuando él dejara de estar visiblemente presente, les enviaría el Espíritu Santo que les fortalecería, que les animaría, que les recordaría todo lo que habían aprendido a su lado. Dos signos sensibles acompañaron esa venida: un viento fuerte y unas “lenguas como llamaradas, que se dividían, posándose encima de cada uno de ellos.” El Espíritu Santo hizo posible el nacimiento de la Iglesia. A partir de su venida, los apóstoles c0menzaron a anunciar el mensaje de Jesús, se formaron las primeras comunidades cristianas.
La primera lectura la hemos tomado del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. El pasaje que hemos leído nos ha descrito esa venida del Espíritu Santo y los signos visibles que la acompañaron. También hemos escuchado el entusiasmo con el que los amigos de Jesús comenzaron a anunciar su mensaje. Lo ocurrido entonces sigue teniendo lugar en nuestros días. También nosotros hemos recibido a ese Espíritu Santo en todos y en cada uno de los sacramentos. De una forma especial, en el sacramento de la Confirmación. Recibir al Espíritu nos ha de llevar a convertirnos en testigos de Jesús con nuestras palabras y nuestra vida.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los cristianos de Corinto, nos ha recordado que, no podemos ser cristianos y aceptar a Jesús como nuestro Señor, si no es por obra y gracia del Espíritu Santo. Él es el que hace posible que aceptemos la fe, que seamos cristianos, que tengamos la fuerza y la valentía para anunciar a Cristo. No dejemos de rezar, de invocar al Espíritu Santo para que infunda su fuerza en nuestros corazones. Sabemos que, cada uno de nosotros, tiene unos dones y unas cualidades que puede poner al servicio de la evangelización, pero debe ser consciente que, esa diversidad de dones y de cualidades, proceden del mismo Espíritu Santo.
El relato del evangelio de Juan nos ha traído a nuestra memoria la promesa que Jesús les había hecho a los suyos antes de ascender al cielo: “Recibid el Espíritu Santo; a quienes les perdonéis los pecados, les quedan perdonados; a quienes se los retengáis, les quedan retenidos». El perdón que nos trae la paz. El perdón que hace posible el Espíritu.
