HOMILÍA
Cincuenta días después de la Pascua de Resurrección, los cristianos celebramos la Solemnidad de Pentecostés, la fiesta que nos recuerda la primera venida del Espíritu Santo sobre los Apóstoles, ya sin la presencia visible de Jesús, pero acompañados por esa otra presencia entrañable de la Virgen María que se sabía Madre de esa comunidad que estaba a punto de nacer. El Jesús resucitado les había advertido a los discípulos que, antes de ponerse en camino para anunciar el Evangelio, esperaran la venida de ese Espíritu que les fortalecería, que les animaría, que les recordaría y les haría comprender el sentido y el significado de las palabras y de las enseñanzas que Él les había impartido.
La primera lectura, tomada del libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles, nos ha descrito cómo fue aquella venida del Espíritu. Dos signos sensibles la acompañaron: un viento fuerte y unas llamas como de fuego que se fueron posando encima de cada uno de ellos. Ahora sí, ante ellos se abría una misión que empezaría en Jerusalén y que llegaría hasta los confines del mundo. También nosotros recibimos un día al Espíritu Santo. Hubo también otros dos signos: una imposición de las manos y una unción con el Santo Crisma. Y lo recibimos para ser testigos de Jesús Resucitado, de su evangelio, de su mensaje de amor.
La segunda lectura, de la carta de San Pablo a los Corintios, nos ha enseñado que todos recibimos el mismo Espíritu pero que, en cada uno de nosotros, se manifiesta de una forma distinta. Todos tenemos cualidades buenas que hemos de saber poner al servicio de los demás. Y todos debemos ser conscientes de que esas cualidades proceden del mismo Espíritu que nos las da para ponerlas al servicio de los demás. Hoy hemos escuchado en el evangelio las palabras exactas de Jesús: “Recibid el Espíritu Santo.” Que Él nos dé su fuerza, su paz, su perdón.
