V Domingo de Cuaresma. Ciclo C.
Era frecuente que Jesús se retirara solo a orar con su Padre; y las palabras de este evangelio nos sitúan justamente después de un buen tiempo de oración de Cristo. Su fama había crecido sin medida, y la gente acudía a Él, esperando sus enseñanzas y también los signos que realizaba en medio del pueblo.
Pero como casi siempre, los que se consideraban justos ante Dios y por lo tanto con derecho a juzgar a los demás, presentan al Maestro una mujer pecadora; como para quererse justificar y ver si en algo se equivocaba o contradecía a la Ley de Moisés. No hizo caso en un primer momento, y sólo escribía en el suelo; no se sabe realmente qué hacía Jesús, lo cierto es que mucho caso a los jueces de aquella mujer no les hizo.
Pero insistían; no se daban por vencidos, querían tener motivos para poder acusar a aquél nuevo Rabí; y hallaron su respuesta, aunque no la que esperaban oír; el que esté libre de pecado que tire la primera piedra. Una frase lapidaria que hizo que agacharan sus cabezas y se fueran yendo uno a uno, empezando por los más ancianos. Nadie supo qué decir ni qué hacer; seguramente un silencio inundó aquella escena.
Probablemente la ira y la vergüenza llenarían el corazón de los que la llevaban como acusadores y se fueron como acusados. Ira porque no se habían salido con la suya, y vergüenza porque habían sido puestos en evidencia a los que se consideraban maestros de la ley. No fueron con sana intención de saber qué pensaba el Maestro, sino con el pretexto de buscar con qué acusarlo.
La conversión verdadera no siente vergüenza ni ira, sino arrepentimiento y alegría por ser perdonados. La única vida que cambió fue la de aquella mujer; venía como rea y se marchó arrepentida y perdonada por Cristo. Su corazón cambió, le habían dado la oportunidad de empezar de nuevo; había sido acogida con misericordia y no fue señalada inquisitorialmente. Al contrario, yo tampoco te condeno, en adelante no peques más.
Una experiencia de perdón auténtica la que encontramos en la mujer adúltera; y un ejemplo de quererse justificar el de los fariseos; sólo aquél que se siente necesitado del perdón puede hallarlo; va a concluir la cuaresma y aún tenemos la oportunidad de preparar nuestro corazón al Paso de Dios, a la Pascua. Volvamos nuestra mirada al que nos habla con cariño y nos pide que en adelante no pequemos más.
